I'd be Lything if I didn't admit I'm happy he is gone.

Great catch by Voges

I still think the Aussies are in with a shot.

Piss off Bell and Root, and the lower order is brittle.
Politicians kissing babies for good luck,
TV preachers sell salvation for a buck.
You don't need no golden cross to tell you wrong from right,
The world's worst murderers were those who saw the light.

Poor batting and bowling by Australia today. **** I'm pissed after spending all day on the gas in a Hospitality suite

If you are going to go to a test match in the UK, Edgebaston is the place to go after Lords! Fantastic atmosphere especially after lunch once the party stand got a few largers under their belt. The Jimmy Anderson chant was electric

This test is as good as done, Poms may not even have to bat again. Pathetic batting display and massive blunder by Clarke to bat IMO

Yep, we're batting first. Took me by surprise, now doesn't look like it's as bowler friendly as it was described but time will tell.

Last 20 tests at this venue

team batting first only one twice with 13 draws

FFS

Now maybe this stat will continue, poor batting from Australia. I was surprised we've batted first I'm not surprised we were bundled out for 136. Thank f**k for Bucky!

After Clarke won the toss and batted Cook said he would of batted aswell, mind games or they both didn't know how the pitch would play?

Hoping for a better day two lol.

I would have batted. Wet ball doesn't swing!
Its always going to seam but get through that and cash in.
Felt for the slippers at 17 degrees and edges flying everywhere.

Agree on warnes commentary. It is becoming ordinary.
What's worse is now we have to put up with slater!

Poor day and we got away with a bit with the Ball, Bell threw his wicket away, and Cook was dreadfully unlucky.

Some serious pressure on some of these guys in the Australian team

Warney should go and commentate domestic cricket in the Caribbean or something. From a King to a Jack.

Screw Warnie. He blocked me on Twitter because I questioned how his teeth keep getting whiter and his skin keeps getting darker.

Terrible day for the Aussies, pretty lucky to have the poms 3 down. Hopefully our bowlers can fire tonight and work us back into it.

No real surprise we got rolled so easily. Our batting line-up is unbalanced, in those English conditions, we need three top-order batsmen and we don't have them. The Lords test was an aberration given the pitch.
Smith might be the best batsmen in the world at the moment, but that doesn't mean he's suited to no 3 - Clarke and Smith need to be 4 and 5, one way or the other.

Smith is ok at three leave him there. Anyone can nick a ball in the top order. Chopping and changing has gotten us nowhere. The Lords test wasn't an aberration, it was just a flatter pitch. Clarke is done pure and simple and is on his last legs. So who goes to three? LB Watson? Nick Marsh? No way Jose. Stick with Smith but can't believe I'm saying this Nick Marsh in for Voges who closes the face far too much to be effective in English conditions.

Yeah, didn't explain properly, meant an aberration in conditions ie the pitch, rather than Smith's batting.
I've always been a believer that Smith is a middle-order player, and I wouldn't have any of those players you mentioned in there. I would have given Joe Burns a go at no 3 in the West Indies.

Some big holes to fill in the Australian side after this Australian summer. Clarke, Rogers and Haddin will all give it away. Jury is still out on Voges at international level and age isnt on his side. Marsh boys bodies are suspect and Mitch Johnson is on the wrong side of 30 for a pace bowler.

Australia A has the following bats playing currently: Burns, Khuwaja, Bancroft, Hanscomb, Head, Ferguson - Which one of these is next in line to take Clarkes No 4 spot and Rogers opening spot?

Obviously Monty considering he's already had a cap, Khwaja would be the next in line I'd imagine after that.
