He is well and truly batting for himself.

Batted utter shit
Ran Head out
Easy 2 in it, Green just ambled the 1st and that caused the confusion with Head about the 2nd. Disgraceful cricket.

Then Green bowls an over of utter garbage including 2 - 3 no balls and flukes a wicket with a defensive shot off the middle of the bat bounces back onto the stumps. 1/17 off the over.
He might have talent but his brain was on another planet today.

Great to see a new guy for the Windies really embrace the challenge of Test cricket and give it everything. The challenge going forward is how can you keep it up when you have so little support in the side ?
What he has shown so far it's surprising he hasn't made his debut before the age of 26 tho a moderate 1st class ave of 34 is probably the reason

Chanderpaul is someone the team can be built around. Let's face it, my 13 yo son said "dad, their middle order averages 23/24/25". Much like Border back in the day - we had nothing other than AB. The difference is, AB was a leader, I'm not sure if Chanderpaul is. Nor do I know what's coming through the ranks beneath him.

As for what I saw today, lacklustre. Chase bowls 500 overs for nada but Brathwaite comes on and gets a wicket. Is that because the first liners are off and the batsman let's their guard down? Dunno. He seems to be bereft of variety IMO. The 'pace attack' is lacking pace. So what are they offering?

How about the field settings when Green was bowling to Chanderpaul.

Fly slip/third man, back stop, fine leg, deep backward square, deep mid-wicket, and square leg . Almost paid off

Great chance to blood a younger player not taken

Still have to pick a balanced pace attack. Morris is a strike bowler, who bowls shorter spells. Realistically only replaces Starc I think in this team. Playing both Starc and Morris also puts an increased workload on Green's bowling as he's required to cover more overs while they recover.

Neser has done his time as reserve, deserves a second test IMO.

Excellent post DB
Michael Neser 2/20 [9] bowled well as part of the baLANCEd attack.
