If Head was going to bowl himself so much, they should have played Valente as the 4th quick.

Pretty even day yesterday for the Redbacks I think - dropping Renshaw twice hurt though.. would want to roll them for less than 500 to have any sort of hope of this game.

Why is a Sheffield Shield game being played in New Zealand?

Instead of playing a tour game for the Test series why not send the 2 sides that are going to provide the bulk of the side, send them over instead?

I think the idea was that it would be in place of a tour game. Lyon, Nevill, Voges can get a hitout in NZ conditions before the test series.

Thought they may have put lads like marsh in there too and picked Khawaja for the ODIs instead, but..

edit - what heater said. But there was only 3 between the two sides playing anyway

Might also provide the opportunity for the NZ sides to discuss preseason tours to the top end.

County Cricket clubs to preseason tours to the Caribbean or Dubai. Given that the small number of Australian sides we have could provide different styles of players than what they are usually exposed to.

Tom Cooper out first over for duck, 1/0.

He is not an opener, don't know why they are persisting with him there. His form has been that bad since the Philip Hughes tragedy, he must be close to being dropped altogether, just can't make a run!

Going to be a long day by the looks!

Brilliant innings by Jake Lehmann, lets hope he and Ludeman can stick around for a decent chunk of tomorrow morning. We have a really long tail, so other than Mennie not much more to come.

I'm so bloody sick of James Hopes and his mediums destroying us over the years, surely we aren't that bad anymore.

Personally I believe Lehmann will be our best batsmen in the next two years, has pure class and just needs to keep gaining experience.
