I like the idea of a quick scorer being paired with an accumulator to open, probably why id bat Watto at 3.

Whats wrong with having two like batsmen together? Could get Australia off to a flyer, and i think Watson definately has a greater temperament than Warner, and the ability to consolidate and be the "rock" if needed, and they could feed off each other.

Maybe play Watto at 3, give Warner and Cowan some time together.
Good prediciment to be in

I like this.

Also means Watto doesn't have to immediately go into bat after he's been bowling.

I really hope the WACA is bouncy.

Must play 4 quicks, Lyon has not looked dangerous, especially since matches are going into the 5th day.

Unless 100% fit Watson will not play. I predict Marsh to double his series run tally in Perth.

Lyon will play unless it's green.
And you would hope that Marsh would get 20 x his series tally

It isn't going to be a massive turner...Lyon has shown he is mediocre on non turning pitches. I would be playing 4 quicks..Clarke can roll the arm over if they need to get through some overs.

Yeah it was a big call with Marsh....you would want 40x his current tally (assuming its 3 runs).

Our bowlers superb again- we have the luxury of 3 equally talented bowlers to share the workload.
Cummins comes in (when fit), and we have a potent attack.
Watson doesn't need to bowl, but can at a reduced workload.
Clarke is a good part-time bowler also- do we need Lyon if all the above are fit?

India on the other hand were exposed for bowling options, and their ageing batting line-up lacks discipline.

Question- did India's batsmen fail to good bowling, or did some great/consistent bowling make the batsmen look ordinary?

Clarke superb captaincy this test has really won me over (I know, Clarke just let out a huge sigh of relief ;) )

Pattinson looked really tired today, has done a great job so far, the week off will do him the world of good.

They may even look at resting him with others being back in the loop, this kids a real talent with ball and bat, lets not burn him out early.

Siddle and Hilf have come on a mile this season, full credit to Craig McDermott, appears so far on face value a great appointment by the ACB

All in all, apart from a hiccup or two we totally dominated this test

Warner, Cowan, Marsh one innings each and failed.

Ponting, Clarke, Hussey brilliant.

Haddin if we hadn't scored 600+ he would have been a liability behind the stumps.

Hilfenhaus, Pattinson, Siddle all bowled very well.

Lyon will not dominate Indian teams, especially in this country, but did enough to be kept unless it's a greentop.

PISS WEAK INDIA GOT 400
Piss weak effort by the Aussies in the Indian 2nd dig
Lets face facts the Indians made 400 batting last in this Test
The selectors erred in not picking 4 quicks
Giving The Indians a menu which included 3 bowlers who bowl below 120kms was a selection blunder
Playing 3 bowlers who are capable of taking wickets is mesmerising
Its ok when those 3 bowl on minefields
It is worrying when decks lack life in them
Only needs one of them to have an off day and bingo you concede 400 runs [like this 2nd innings today]

KEEPER
The situation is even worse when you have a butterfingered wicket keeper

THE MOMENT
Today was a classic example
3/168 with Gambhir out
VVS Laxitagainstfastbowlingman came in
VVS was made to look insipid by the quicks
he was dropped down legside by THAT keeper when he was on about 1-2 runs
VVS was long odds on to be out soon by the quicks
But instead of keeping the pressure on, the skipper pulls a blue mooner
With Laxman new at the crease he brings on the spinner
Laxman pinches some easy runs is away and makes 66
A 4th quick today like Harris and the Indians would have been lucky to get to 300

INDIAN TAIL
7/286
That was the score when Kholi was dismissed
The tail piled on a staggering 114 more
This is simply unacceptable

PERTH TEST
Watson IN ,takes Cowan spot
If Watson cant bowl drop Marsh and play any allrounder
Try
M MARSH
CHRISTIAN
Just for 1 test until Watto is fit enough to bowl

Imagine those Indians facing
RHINO, PATTO, SIZZZZZZZ,HILFY
and then a 5th allrounding bowler like WATTO, MITCHY or DANNY
It would be carnage

Geez Mal, the pitch was a road. At least one of their batsmen should have made a century on it.
