great performance by the aussies and have been really good in using the perth pitch to their advantage this game. I am getting a feeling though that if they win this match by a significant margin as appears likely, problems await in melbourne on boxing day. With the exception of Hussey and Watson, batting has still underperformed and the bowlers wont be able to intimidate the Poms in Melbourne with extra speed like they have here. This series is becoming more and more like the 2009 ashes every day.

I agree, I think even if we win this Test, which appears likely, we will still struggle to win or even draw the series.

On the bright side, that's what they said about Australia's chances in the Perth Test.

At least it isn't looking like 1985 or 1986/87 as it looked like in Adelaide.

Great day. Was getting about 70 texts a day from pommy mates during adelaide test, phone a bit quiet today but.
Tipped 3-1 at start of series and still think so. England have thriwn everything at us this series but will head to melbourne 1-1. Watch them implode

Phillip Hughes can rightly hum a Mick Jagger verse

""Tiiiiime is on my side, yes it is.""

He is young and thats gunna get him further opportunties
But Im really dissappointed with his current progress
I saw Phil make an almost double ton v SA
The great safooty cricket authoritarian AM BAYS and I watched Hughes bat
He was stoic, got behind every ball, and never looked like getting out
He did it on the bit that innings, and played some terrific shots
I walked away from the Adelaide Oval thinking , this guy has got what it takes to become a good Test cricketer

The compact circumspect Hughes that I saw that day with a beaut technique is not the one I saw playing Test cricket
I reckon he watched David Warner and got some bad habits from him ?
He has at times batted in Test cricket like a 20/20 cricketer

A Max Merrit verse "" Slipping Away"" is where his Test career is going
Johnny Young once versed what Hughes is doing against short pitched bowling "" Step Back a little ""

To comapre WATTO with HUGHES
WATTO gets out LBW for a reason, he puts his body on the line
HUGHES is not getting out LBW because he looks and plays like a little kid intimidated by fast bowlers

It aint often I praise a player like Hughes, see him pinnacle, and then say how disappointed I am with thier
progress

As of now, as the Eagles hummed, ''Everybodys talkin bout the new kid in town"" , the 18 year old Maddinson is gaining ground rapidly on Hughes

Even Simon will be anxiously watching the progress of Maddinson
And as Glen Sharrock once sang "" Curiosity killed the KAT."

what a remarkable test match thus far, i sent a text to a couple of people early on day one that read "40 mins into day one and we are ******", i received a text early on day 2 which read " they will be in front before KP has to bat" then WAMMO!!, the poms lose 10/109 giving us a lead of 81 yet when we were 3/65 they were still well in the match, even with a target of 391 they would give themselves a chance. Stumps day three 5/81 all but dead in the water, notice the "all but" whilst there is life there is hope but with their long tail you wouldnt give them a chance with the wicket still doing a little bit, hopefully all over before lunch.
