KP: name me 5 better English o/d batsman in thier history

1. Gower
2. Lamb
3. Gooch
4. Vaughan
5. Thorpe

No particular order by the way but they all are proven over long periods of time. If i could be bothered i'd come up with more as well.

Maybe Robin Smith too.

Yep, reckon he'd be at least on a par but if we look through ODI cricket since 1971? i'm sure there would easily be 5 better English Batsmen than KP. KP may become better than all of them but at this stage of his career he isn't.

Have to say i would doubt very much he will ever be considered in the same class as Gower though. He was one of the most enjoyable cricketers to watch you could ever imagine. Simply amazing what he could do. Unfortunately he was a flawed genius in much the same way as M. Waugh. Gower had more talent though.

The big question is how do the Aussies use Watson. IMO his batting is suited more in the top 4 and I'm not sure his bowling is good enough to be the fourth pace bowler, which seems to be the formula the Australians want to use. Especially with Johnson, Clark and Tait waiting in the wings.

SD says

1. If Watson's Batting is suited more in the top 4, well he should not be in the side, there is a que in front of him of players around australia who would be far superior top 4 batters

2. If Watson is not good enough to bowl first change, well he should be in the side either

I thought the purpose of a World Class All- rounder was to add flexibility to a side, now people are saying he needs to bat top 4 and be the 5th bowler because he has his limitations, the problem with Watson, is he is good a both crafts but at international level not particularly strong in either, he falls far short of the mark and continues to get a free ride

I hypothesize that only sides with short-comings need an all-rounder.

This is exactly the thing Rod Rooster. Everyone carries on about Pietersen as if he's been around for 10 years, won world cups, re-written the record books, etc. The facts are he has a long way to go before people start elevating him to positions of greatness. At the moment, he's a young man with a very good eye. If anything happens to his vision, he is outta here because his technique stinks.

Australian selectors have aways been a bit "shut the gate after the horse has bolted", why change now?

Next game the leading wicket taker in this seies Sir Glen MCstar proved it again
10 overs 2/42 and a wicket last ball.

I asked both you to retract your GARBAGE statements about this champion.

And before you say this AH
" Whats he going to do now, he cant bat."
MAL will say it for Glen
" He can sit back and watch his batsman chase 246 and not 276."
