Good point to an extent Sam but a big difference between day 1 Gabba 2006 and day 1 Lords 2005, Day 1 at Lords was even, 17 wickets fell in the day and it was an even contest throughout the test we won due to a major English collapse in the 2nd innings at teh hands of McGrath and Warne.

Whilst we won at Lords there were some holes exposed in the Australian teams underbelly: reckless batting, complaincency Gillespie was struggling and Lee was trying to bounce blokes out that England went on to exploit......

In fact the loss by England made our team more complacent witness ponting sending England in on a belter at Edgebaston....

This time we have smashed you, the Australian team has shown its resolve as demonstrated by Pontings emotions when he made 100 and Hussey when he scored 50....The Australian team is VERY foccussed on winning this series and without S Jones and Hoggard not being able to swing it here like in did in 2005 your lot are going to find it very hard to get 20 Australian wickets each test....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Yes - you will - but only becuase the Ashes live at Lords. Australia, however, will be recognised as the 'holders' of the urn.

Stephanie Brantz - what the hell is she doing there? Contributes absolutely nothing to the coverage. Only there to please the femmos who complain about no female commentators.

Only good thing about her being there was the Barmy Armys "Channel 10" chant when she was in the middle of them. C9 soon cut away from her!!!

From the online ball-by-ball commentary :

Thanks Martin, and thanks Will. Hello everyone and welcome wherever you are - there's probably a fair few of you hiding in that drinks cart. Shaped like a big drinks bottle (see what they did there) that cart is huuuge. I wonder if it's got anything in it other than drinks, perhaps a radar for Harmison... certainly wouldn't go amiss. Poor lamb. Right, let's see if England can grab a wicket in the rest of the morning session, or if Australia will just continue in scorching vein. It's Andrew Flintoff anyway...

Radar, hehe.

England's bowlers just aren't doing enough, Freddie is a brilliant cricketer (one of the best I have seen) but he can't do it all on his own.

Surely Monty will get a run in the Adelaide tests. It is plain to see that restricting the scoring hasn't worked, so it is time to be more attacking and aggressive.
