Please!!!! he can't even get a game for NSW but let's pick him for Australia?
And as for Watson picked. I think he may go straight past Cowan and open in the first test

jeez you obvioulsy didnt read what I wrote, the chance of squad player 15 16 17 getting a game is minimmal at best. The development opportunity for the young leggy and looking to the future of spin bowling for australia (which maxwell, doherty etc arent) there are far more positives than negatives in him being selected at No17 or travelling over to India with the side

I read it. Matty Hayden was at least scoring runs for Queensland. Zampa is behind O'keefe. If you were taking a young spinner it would be Boyce

In Australia spinners are selected because they can often bat or not go at 5 an over. O'Keefe has been tried, but he has no x factor just like doherty and to an extent Lyon. Yep Boyce is another possible. Zamba is a spinner of the ball, get that right and him to mature and we have a future test playing wicket taker

You look at the other spinners around the world, they all have an x factor be in bounce, drift, action/wrist differences etc. Our offies with basic actions and minimal turn are pump on the world stage

Cant believe Haddin isnt in that squad, just his experience over there would be worth its weight in gold.

This apparent need for an all rounder has gifted Smith, Maxwell and Henriques tours to India. I can't believe they have taken 17 players and haven't even picked a back up wicket keeper. What happens if Wade gets Delhi belly on the morning of a match? Australia's batting depth is at an all time low.

Does anyone actually read any articles, interviews at all? Haddin is on standby, as it's only a reasonably short flight. 17 man squad is to cover all bases with selections.

Must be a short flight if wades coming down with a bug the morning of a test and haddins getting there on time for the first ball

Do you really think Wade would be eating or drinking anything that would make him crook before a test? Those days finished 20 years ago.

No 2nd keeper is very risky
If and buts and occasionally :
Players get injured in training sessions
Players get injured in pre game warm ups
Players get bugs, viruses , illnesses etc etc
The above applies to keepers as well

Exactly UKF, spewing MM is injured at the moment.

And I've always liked Doherty Jim, although he should not be going to India on a test tour FFS!

This tour could get very ugly for us. :( Hopefully India will be still in disarray after losing to England at home when we face them in the first test.

Henriques got picked due to averaging 77 with the bat and 18 with the ball this season. Surprising selections of smith, maxwell and Doherty.
