just got to have a look at the batting averages of our players. generally they bat to there avge which are normally low30s to high 20s not good enough for shield cricket.

VI 2/89[34.4]
HILL 15 *[50]
MR QUINEY 17*[37] 2 fours and a zac, now made 28 off 122 balls this match !

Glen MAxwelL 63 run out [72] in the first dig, will he play the killer innings later today

VI lead by 176 runs
I reckon the par score chase would be 250
So SA need to take quick wickets

The death penalty can never be excused as it allows a state a means by which it can pick and choose who is fit to live and who isnt

What is it with Maxwell. He kills us every time.

Time to invest in some youth
Our recruits
Klinger - he stays
OBrien - only the shorter form, not enough penetration
Blizzard - Good but bats at 6 - no higher - he gets worked out
Lyon - very good, worth persevering in all 3 forms of the game.
Christian- he stays - but bats no higher than 7
Edmondson- good, but you wont win a shield with him in it , also too old.
Cassell- ok , but not in our next shield winning team- gone.
Richardson - has real promise and can bat a bit

Our tailenders have to be able to consistently make 100 with a batsmen between them. We can only afford to carry one bunny- not 3

My team

Harris ( needs to develop his spinners to support the bowlers)
Smith
Klinger
Ferguson
Moffatt ( give him the season to find his feet)
Blizzard
Manou
Christian
Richardson
Lyon
George

12th - Chadd Sayers

others
Jason Borgas
Cam Borgas- but mainly shorter form
Tait - in shorter forms - how can a guy who didnt play 1 Ryobi cup game, get picked for the World cup by the way???
Haberfield - can play but his batting cant dislodge Sayers
Bailey -just, only because his batting has improved- one for particular decks
a young local keeper as understudy to Choc- Manou gets injured and he will probably play 2-3 games for experience- Ludeman- ok, but nothing worth keeping a local at bay.

Any thoughts ?

also, district teams need to stop producing dead front foot wickets. Our boys need to be able to play off the back foot, either letting go or hitting the swinging or seaming ball. If you cant produce it, play in the Turf comp !
