Very ordinary effort from Australia. Underwhelming to say the least.

I guess you've gotta persist with him hoping he finds form, but he looked HORRIBLE out there today.

How did people rate Clarkes innings.

I thought the top 3 batted slow but set up the rest of the innings for the batsmen to be able to bat agressively.

imho Clarke and White batted very selfishly and killed the Australian innings with their slow pace when they should have been looking to accellerate.

Should be enough to win this game but stranger things have happened.

Be intersting to see how we bat against world class spinners if thats what we are to produce against average spinners. This score will not win us games against the quality sides, India/Sri Lanka would make those runs within 40 overs.

Clarke batted well, no complaints here. Would've liked more boundaries, but you can't complain about his SR.

Haddin and White meanwhile, were both hopeless.

Did White even have one decent innings in the recent series against England?

Not a great target by the Aussies, bit worried about the way we went about it. We started slowly and didn't cash in on the power plays. Only the first game of the World Cup I guess so we can only get better hopefully.

Should still be enough to get the win.

I thought Clarke was good, he is providing a good anchor, just need someone down the end to bash the ball around a bit more.

Given that 260 should be about 100 too many for them I'm not too unhappy with how the batting went. Let the guys have another practice hit before the real stuff kicks into gear. We're here to be playing well in the knockout stages, not early to butcher a div 2 side.

true but i thought they would have attacked the power plays overs alot harder as i think this is the area that will win the world cup.

if we cant butcher Zimbabwe around in the power play overs how we going to butcher the better sides.

this would have been the perfect oppurtunity to attack a little harder knowing if things didnt go as planned we should still have the attack to bowl them out cheaply.

Cant believe we had 2 maiden overs in the power plays against bowlers who wouldnt bowl a school side out. Even if you cant hit them youve got to atleast push a couple around they were not bowling grenades.

Interesting stat - this is the first ODI between Australia and Zimbabwe since 2004.

Also, the last time the two sides met in any form of the game was the 2007 T20 Championships where Zimbabwe defeated us!

Gee Channel 9 already off to a bad start - 7 minutes late (and counting) so they can finish showing an ancient episode of Crime Investigation Australia (I guess they need to fulfil their Steve Liebmann quota)

Cant believe this Charles Coventry fella only has an average of 26 yet his highest score is 198. He held the record until the little master passed it with 200.
He has made just over 800 runs from 32 knocks and a quarter of his runs came in 1 innings.
