Was happy to see VOGES given a chance in the last ODI..
Seems to take his chances when given to him. Should probably be given more opportunities in the ODI and T20 arena.

I agree. I've always liked Voges as a player.

As an aside, could I be forgiven for thinking after the 50/50 victories that Punter and the boys must have concluded the odds for Oz to win the world cup had reached the point where they should place their bets somewhere between the 20/20 losses and this series? It would explain the form reversal... ;)

I wasn't one of them but I never saw anyone come out and say it was a great decision either.

If AU has to rely on Smith/Hussey/Hauritz and co, then I feel AU is at a big disadvantage

Just to further clarify the differential in pitches
IF AU played EG 7 times on the Sub Continent tracks I would think someone would win the series 4-3, and not the 6-1 result we have had here

Mal, listening to some expert on the weekend and they had an alternative view. If I remember correctly it went something like. "The difference between Aus and sub continent is that in Aus you need survive against the new ball and then prosper when it stops doing anything. In the continent you have to take full advantage of the new ball, because the pitches means it starts reversing early and that makes batting a lot tougher."

Now based on that argument, we have the best reverse swingers in the country, ie Lee / Tait / MJ selected in our side. Spin will not play a huge role for Aus, one because we don't have the quality, two because the selectors, rightly or wrongly have gone for the reverse swing late to win matches. Whichever way, we wait anxiously to see what happens. Remember in the WIndies that reverse won us the world cup, similar pitches, we will see.
