Never really bagged them, but:
- didn't think there was room for both Hussey and Ponting in the side. Thought just one of them at No 6.
- thought, like Mark Waugh, Michael Clarke might end up a bit of a slightly unfufilled talent and didn't know he had this sort of innings in him.
- Was a huge fan for Hilfenhaus, but was gone and wouldn't live up to my expectations, but now proving me wrong.
Good on them for proving me wrong, and in the manner they have gone about it.

Haddin, though, shouldn't have been recalled last summer once Paine had played a couple of tests.

I would like to state that Brad Haddin is an absolute hack.

Prove me wrong.

Absolute hack is unfair. If he was he would have been dropped quicker than Tim Zoehrer (who incidentally was a fine keeper).
However, he's not a brilliant keeper. Leaden footwork.

Ziggy, Stuart Law.
Forceful cats off the field by all accounts.
At that time both of them were playing, Mo Matthews was also a feature.
Can't fit all of those Gurus in the side. lol

Brad Hodge should look at this guys career, then sign up to this thread and apologise to the public for having to hear his woe-is-me saga.

Yeah sorry Hilfy, how can a guy go from being so crap to so good in a few months?
A real credit to those involved in the transformation.
Will keep his spot until Patty comes back now

Went back to his original coach.
Deserved to be dropped previously, but has bounced back well.
Inverarity & Co look like geniuses for bringing him back.

Would still like to see hilfy develop an inswinger to a R/H batsmen. Would then enable him to swing it away from the lefty, which is where i think he got caught out last summer as he strayed too much on the pads of cook and strauss and co and consequently got taken to the cleaners. Jimmy Anderson showed the world just how dynamic a bowler can be swinging it both ways and would love to see hilfy develop that to his game.

GREG MATTHEWS PRESS RELEASE ON STEVE SMITH
This was interesting reading
Greg has offered to coach Smith
This is how the article goes about the East Coast allrounder

Matthews believes Smith is suffering from a lack of a clearly defined role
From 27 First Class matches Smith averages
40.95 batting
54.79 with the ball for his 43 wickets

''Steve Smith dosent know who he is as a cricketer and its showing.
On my humble opinion Smith is a wicket taking allrounder
I see his leg spin as being far more important than his batting
I would bowl smith 30 overs every innings until he gets it, because when he does, he will get 200 Test wickets and win Sheffield Shield matches.""

Hmn....
I dont share Gregs confidence

Lap it up Dutchy, as one of his staunch supporters, you should be rubbing it in every time...

I thought he was gone for all money before the series started...

Now, knocks of 62 & 60, 134 & dnb, seven & dnb, and this most recent hundred are making this a series to remember.
