Those selected from Smithy down should be 8 bowlers and a wicketkeeper ...

I shall be the selector! As you have all earned your spots, no matter how bad your form is you will not be dropped ;)

Is there any point bringing Haddin back into the team? Surely Paine is the future of the team and deserves a chance to cement his spot, imo he bats and keeps equal to Haddin. If Paine gets dropped for the 1st test it will be a disgrace!

On the spinner side of things we got nothing. I'm still not convinced on Smith but he's better than Hauritz (not hard, could find a C grade spinner in district cricket better) and deserves a crack and also a chance to try and secure a spot.

Also If Paine retains his place in front of Haddin its a disgrace as well ?
Haddin averages almost 40 in Test Cricket over a period of a few years

Brad is going to be 33 next week
Tim Paine and Matthew Wade will only have to wait another 2 years
And yes, all 3 are good enough to be keeper batters for AU

So why play someone who is only going to be there for the next 2 years ahead of someone of the same ability who is 7 years younger and going to be around for the next 8-9 years? Shouldn't we be blooding the young fellas now with a plan towards the future?

i kind of agree, just take a look at our bowling stocks at the moment, thats what will happen when you have a group of players all retire at the same time. We had McGrath, Warne and Gillespie but for a long period we kept using older blokes such as Bichel and Kasporwichz as the 3rd medium pacer, it was just lucky they eventually blooded Brett Lee.

This is the time to blood a few more youngsters otherwise your going to have the same issue when Katich, Ponting, Hussey, Haddin, North all retire around the same time.

Take away gilCHRIST and not many keepers average 40 odd in test cricket
To drop Haddin with that record would make every test cricketer who is performing very nervous
The Australian way is to play guys even when they have a rougt trot, it makes players secure
Haddin has not had a slump so he will be selected

I will give another example
WATTO gets injured NOW
MCDONALD takes his spot and averages 50 with the willow and takes wickets at 25 in the ashes series
Do we shun a cricketer who is dominating for 18 months for a player who did well in a series ?

PAINE is good enough and a better investment for the future
BUT
HADDIN deserves to retain his place

Was very impressed with young okeefe in shield game bowled very well. Is a good bat too and saw glimpses of his ryobi innings. Very cool under pressure. Being a nsw boy REB has probably seen him a bit more. Id give him a crack

It's hard, I just went for the more frequent posters on the cricket forum, but I think we have at least one Bluebagger in there (had to be a chance of playing for Aus ;) ).

And WHUFC, my DNB in a rained out affair hardly has me pushing for selection in this all-star lineup.

Dont worry mate was only having a laugh,

i need any chance to brag about my 8 for as i more than likely wont take another 8 wickets for the season.
