Edmonson went for 6 an over. Thats bad for a one dayer so how bads that at shield level? We are poor recruiters, I remember talk of signing Hughes but nothing ever happened. And then we let Harris go because we wouldnt offer him 1 year more. Next we lose Cosi who Ithink will score bucket loads this season. Who is running this show cos it aint working

Have been looking at the current Redback XI First Class Stats...no wonder we are getting spanked

Players with batting average above 39 - ZERO
Players with batting Strike Rates above 48 - 2 57.47 G Manou and 56.84 J Smith
Players with more than 40 wickets - 2 178 Edmonson and 57 Christian
Players with bowling average below 32 - ZERO
Total 5wi taken - 5 3 Edmonson and 2 Christian
"Bowlers" with strike rates above 110 - 2 112 Duval and 114 O'Brien
Opening bowlers with economy rates above 3.5 - 2 3.97 Edmonson and 3.55 Cassell

The above exclude A Blizzard and his 3 matches and 46 runs

Yes, you can pick the stats that you want to make a case, but FFS these are MAJOR stats, not little minor things

SA bowling options..the cupboard looks pretty bare

Edmonson (32yo, 51 FC matches)
Duval (27yo, 10 FC matches)
Cassell (27yo, 2 FC matches)
Haberfield (24yo, 9 FC matches)
Putland (24yo, 3 FC matches)
George (23yo, 19 FC matches)
Richardson (19yo, 0 FC matches)

I would like to see Putland, Haberfield and Richardson all get opportunities this year.
Ideally for the next SS match
George
Duval
Putland

SA play against Victoria in Futures League Oct 19-21. Would be great to see Putland, Haberfield and Richardson all have a chance in that instead of playing Duval, giving them a chance before out next SS match v WA starting oct 29

Go the jellys! If only we could play T20 cricket all year round. But seriously they had a season preview spread of the stats for the Redbacks players in the paper the other day and I was shocked at how ordinary most of their FC & ODD batting & bowling averages actually are.

Jake broke his thumb over at the champions trophy hence him not playing this game. Should be back in a month i believe. TTGDCC wont see much of him as he will play most if not all FC games.

Im led to believe that Edmonson, Cassell and Lang were bought in as depth bowlers not so much to start the season but due to PG in the AUS squad and Jake breaking his thumb their hand was forced into selecting.

Lang had a pretty good all round game for UNi i believe.

From watching Delaney on the weekend i wouldnt mind seeing him even get a crack at FC level if we dont improve, as he is alot quicker than Richardson and Puts.

What's the story with Ferg? Is he fit yet?

Just think, if NSW were Collingwood we'd get to play the Redbacks four times during the Shield.

Any reason why Putland was overlooked for a spot in the XI? Given he took 4 wickets on the weekend (inc Warner, Haddin and Maddinson).

Fergs would not of helped this match. If they hadnt declared I reckon they would still be batting today such was the poor bowling.

Light drizzle at moment, but not enough to delay start I think

Redbacks have moved along to 4/110. Blizzard looking good on 46*

They were just doing a Pakistan and pushing out the odds.

Now we'll probably declare 200+ behind and hope that NSW set us a target that we'll fail at reaching and give them 6 points.
