Good effort by SA today
Could have been
TA 450
SA 4/100
But 389 v 4/220 is a good effort

Bit harsh on Cosi lads
49 [54]
thats a reasonable effort
BORGAS 34* continuing his good form this year
Going to be a close game TOMorrow for the 2 points
UNLESS
the 2 skippers have a beer tonight and we declare 100 behind them

ive not been the biggest cossie fan in that he doesnt make big scores from his endless starts, but in this dig he had to push the score on. when harris and klinger bat together you just go zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. these boys score at a SR of 35, now what do you want cossie to do bat the same NO THANKS

Cossie HAS to bat like that our the Redbacks would make 180-200 in the allocated 96 overs a day. At least he plays some shots and gets the scoreboard ticking. That 49 is just as valuable as Harris' 5 hour-77.

Cossie must be held in high esteem by the public going by this forum, I'd love to make 49 for my state and get bagged, obviously everyone expects a ton every time he strolls out there.

I think people just get frustrated by him and that they think he is not getting the most out of his ability. In my copy of 'Calling all Cricketers' (that fine NSW publication) it states that the hardest part of the innings is getting a start and that 'someone who gets to a modest score has mastered the conditions to some degree. But once again, they get out in the twenties (30's or 40's in Cossies case). Bad luck say your team mates. It is not bad luck, but simply bad cricket.'

Or something like that anyway.

Quite possibly the case, he is a flamboyant risky batsman and the supporters must take the good with the bad, when you run the risk it will backfire from time to time.

SA has 8 batsman
From HARRIS to CHRISTIAN
all are capable of making runs
If each batsman made 49 off 54 balls
SA would be 8/392 + extras off 72 overs
That would be about an hour after tea
Add some tailend contributions and SA makes about 410 off 75- 80 overs
If SA batted like this each and every game with the same players they would be a terrific chance of playing in a SS final
Puerly speculative supposition lads, but an insight at least

So Cosis 49 [54] is a goodish contribution in my opinion

One other thing about Cosi
When he makes runs we love him
When he fails we dont blame his technique, or praise the bowler for getting him out, we talk about his frame

And so we should, he is not giving himself the best opportunity to make runs. He has been given the privelidge of playing for SA in front of other FAR more committed batsmen, and yet he abuses this privelidge by not fully committing to being at his best. Its a fair slap in the face, to have a careless, overweight player that isnt interested in building partnerships. Yes he will always get the run rate up , but we're not playing limited over cricket. Always looking to smash everything is a selfish approach in the longer form of the game.

And that would be?

I really wish people would stop defending Cosgrove, he's letting SA cricket down. He is clearly an undisciplined player, he clearly plays undisciplined cricket, he is unable to bat a session let alone a full day, and he clrealy has an undisciplined life style. I don't need to be at practice, I get the good oil from the coaching staff.

Who cares what his lifestyle is if he can make 49 from 54 balls? Mal's argument is an excellent one.
Every player has their strengths and weaknesses, it is just because Cossie's weaknesses are very visible that he gets bagged more.

Borgas gone for 78

SA 8/303, still 86 runs behind. I think any chance of scraping 1st innings points just departed with Borgas.

Not sure if this has been covered but did anyone else see how Smith was dismissed?

What was he thinking? It looked like he wasn't thinking at all.

SA 8/343 just 46 runs behind. Duval has smashed his way to 39.

Duval has been batting very well in Grade cricket, would be good to see him notch up a 50+ score to secure fist innings points.
