Be much more of a farce if Watto gets a game.

So what are we thinking at this stage? Aberration or is there a possible good player here with more work on his consistency?

I think he showed a fair bit of promise. He could have gone into his shell after the initial onslaught but he kept backing himself in an really throwing the ball up. He gives it a big rip as well. His good balls are really good but as you say he needs to work on his consistency. Overall i think he has some potential.

8 wickets on debut, wow! Best debut from an Aussie bowler Since Bob Massie at Lords in 1972. Whether he's a long term prospect or not, this was a great performance.

The selectors were clearly spooked by his tour match performance and were then too scared to pick him.

Great performance particularly after getting carted earlier on.
Well done too Ponting for giving him plenty of overs to prove himself.

I feel he was really needed in the last test match. But hey at least he is there now. In my opinion its time for Symonds to be back in Clarke in as well and White gone. Also we should be looking at Haddin, Is he really good enough? Paine from Tas might be worth a punt at the moment.

Have to give him a lot of credit after not really rating him that highly.
12 wickets on debut in India where traditionally our spinners have struggled is a great effort.

Humble pie no dount, the man looks extremely promising!!

Lots of turn, variation, tosses it up there, he's a real attacking bowler.

Will be interesting to watch.
How many runs are we prepared to give away in order to claim wickets?
He averages 50 in first class cricket - will he have as much success away from spin friendly Indian pitches?

That will be the ultimate question but at least he is a step up from White in that he has demonstrated an ability to bowl genuine wicket taking deliveries with a fair bit of turn.
