Agree with squids.
Johnson also has a lot more consistency now since his return from injury

He has Mitchell Johnson covered.

Disagree, Johnson has an intimidation factor that Starc does not.

Intimidation on Bouncy, fast decks, Remove his bouncer, struggles to get a wicket, because he doesnt hit stumps or pads enough. Is Bird on this tour?

Bird has gone home with back pain. He may come back if given the all clear

Bird isnt the answer.
Why dont we follow the hosts lead and play an extra spinner.
I dont think Doherty will be a success but we have to try it.
We cant go in with 3 quicks again, Starc has to make way

Our quicks must bowl stump to stump, pace is irrivelent. After the first 6 overs, Wade up to the stumps,so they cant just walk at us, and bowl full and straight.

Pattison
Henriques
OKeffe
Lyon
Doherty

Or dont play Doherty, and play Maxwell,

Watson,
Warner,
Cowan,
Hughes,
Clarke,
Henriques,
Maxwell,
Wade,
O'Keefe,
Pattison,
Lyon

He cant keep normally let alone up to the stumps. Are you forgetting his pathetic effort in Adelaide that probably cost us the series?

At least to Henriques anyway. Prob not pattison. Unlikely to even get a catch standing back anyway, so come up and be the wicky stopper he is, as long as it keeps them in the crease.
What's the worst result? He gets injured, win-win.

Johnson can bowl those unplayable spells. If Starc didnt swing it at all in this test, bring Johnson in. Plus Johnson can bat.

I think Doherty will get a gig in the next test. Probably in place of siddle.

May aswell go in with a far stronger batting line up & more spin options.

Warner
Cowan
Hughes
Watson
Clarke
Henriques
Wade
Maxwell
Pattinson
Lyon
Doherty

At least we should score more runs & perhaps take more wickets consistently.

Thats what I would go with to Lightning. Maybe a flip of the coin between Maxwell and Smith but I think Maxwell's bowling is better.
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

Either way, it's an improvement on the 1st test. I did hear Pattinson may be getting rested for the 2nd test, what a joke if so, are we tanking.

Warner
Cowan
Hughes
Watson
Clarke
Henriques
Wade
Starc/Johnson
Pattinson (If he's going to be rested as per LM's post then Siddle or if Starc plays Johnson instead of Pattinson)
Lyon
Doherty

If I was a selector there's no way I'd have Maxwell in my side, spud that doesn't deserve to be there. He's a one day specialist that's it, the Indians would dispatch him to all parts.

I wish they took Steven O'Keefe on tour, he would of made his debut in the first test IMO, probably in front of Henriques given the conditions.

And I'd have Bird in there bowling stump to stump if he wasn't injured. :?

Siddle has no venom on the Indian wickets. Starc & Bird have no experience for the conditions either. I'd go Johnson if Pattinson is an out, purely for the added experience with the ball and I think he's a better prospect with the bat than any other bowler.
