Here is a novel idea - if the watching public can pick the MOTM via text voting - lets opening up the whole show and pick the side via text voting... would be interesting to see what side takes to the ground

Making us wait for Ponting Haddin Hussey to come into form is a bloody waste of time. What are we waiting for? For them to play a good game to retire in? Make the current struggles worth while and build for future times.

Cowans
Wade
Paine
Need opportunities too. Soon

Once Paine is fit to play i think he will be a straight swap for haddin.

That may be some time off, his finger injury has not healed at all and he has also reinjured it further. Heard Ian Healy talking about it yesterday and there is some doubt that he will even return to playing cricket so bad is the injury

In all seriousness, can't they just cut it off...?

It's worked for footballers, and he catches with gloves on...

Serious question?

Paine will be fine to play cricket again.

Just needs time to recover, and that time is costing him with Wade really impressing.

they are seriously worried about painey's finger. It's now the equivalent of being crushed. His injjury is the reason why CA scrapped the ACA allstars game.

Paine is so overrated. Don’t get me wrong, he is a good leader, a good keeper, a decent bat, but Wade has him covered.

Paine FC stats:

Age: 27
Matches: 46
Average: 31.62
50's: 18
100's: 1

Wade FC stats:

Age: 23
Matches: 50
Average: 40.16
50's: 17
100's: 4

Wade >>> Paine.

Without the injury and missing so much cricket of late, Paine would be the preferred option, I believe, based on experience and the moulding of a potential future captain.

Clarke play for 4 or so as skipper and Paine take over at 30-31 for 4 or 5 years. That plan must now have changed.

Wade is in front of him for selection on the playing side but I am sure CA still see Paine as a potential future captain. Not many others in that age bracket ( 25-27 ) showing any signs of being the heir to Clarkes throne.

I don't get the Paine love, injured all the time and only a solid batsman without being a star.

Wade must be the next choice.

A lot of people said David Warner hadn't proved his worth yet either. But maybe you have a point - retain either ponting or hussey at 5/6 and promote Cowan and bring back watto and Marsh... Its ok to go full on young with the bowling line up but we need to continue with only experience batsmen? Why?

Hussey and Ponting are two of the best fielders in world cricket. Both are proven batsmen currently out of form - doesn't mean they won't regain it. I remember just over 12 months ago the same great Aussie knockers were calling for Hussey's head - he was easily our best batsman only last summer. If they are to be replaced, it must be by a player who is in outstanding 1st class form - Australian Test sides should not be selected on the basis of age - Warner is a must keep and the bowling looks ok. We must keep at least one or two proven, experienced batsmen or India will embarrass us !

Michael Clarke got picked to play for Australia with a far worse average than those around him at the time. Same with Warner. I guess it comes down to the more marketable player.

Didnt Ponting make a half ton in Brisbane? :?

You cant just chuck the kids a Baggy Green and hope it works, look at Starc

India are going to destroy us.

Hughes would make a fantastic Assistant coach, he would be awesome hitting those slips catches in the pre game.

Yeah and look at Pattinson.

Guess we should keep ponting since he made a half century in brisbane. He is in such good form.

I dont see why we wouldnt play cowan (in outstanding form), watson and marsh if all fit. drop hughes, ponting and hussey.

Ponting HAS to go. May as well get games into some one else considering he is continue to fail.

F
F
S
2 brilliant series SA + NZ series
And we get a lousy 2 Tests each
I asked the question why only 2 Tests, and got the they dont deserve a 3 Test series on SAFOOTY
Ian Chappell said the same thing NZ have to earn 3 Tests

So if thats the criteria, why only 2 tests in South Africa ?

As for the knockers of this team, calm down
The team is in transition mode
There has been an enormous turnover of players in recent times, especially becoz of injuries
Series win over SL
Drawn series with SA + NZ
I reckon thats acceptable, if they won this game, their form for a rebuilding team was very good
There is a lack of in their prime batters
Think about it Michael Clarke is the only established batsman at the present time

Hughes is out now. Is Marsh fit enough to be brought back in?

I guess now I am wondering who can open the batting. I know Khawaja has done this before, not at test level though, but still might be worth looking at.

Watching Ricky Ponting in this Test Match reminded me of watching a middle aged MuhaMAD Ali get pummelled by Larry Holmes
When your times up your times up
What an absolute embarrasment to see the champ get out the way he did in this test
LBW sprawling in front of his stumps, and completely missing the ball
Todays push into the covers , was the shot of a division 12 Adelaide Turf number 11 batsman

Got some flat decks against India coming up
He is likely to get some nice scores, as will Mike Hussey
But hopefully he does not go to England
The English bowlers will make him look like Muhamad Ali vrs Trevor Berbick

Ive said this many many many times
Its no disgrace to get too old and lose your form

I said this earlier, Ponting, Hussey and Haddin must surely be considered series by series prospects, and if we are FULLY FIT and Watto opens, Shaun Marsh and who would come in for Huss and Ponting?

Who is the next best in-form middle order batsman?
Take out those, three, and our best XI would be below...
Still need another set batsman.
Watson
Warner
Khawaja
Marsh
Clarke
???
Paine
Siddle
Pattinson
Cummins
Lyon
