Oh dear, Katich chases a wide one and somehow reaches it to get the edge. 2/38 and Australia in a lot of trouble.

Just got home, put my feet up and saw Hayden out forst ball to a crap shot. Then Katich out .. crap shot. All I've seen this summer is Australian batsmen getting out with CRAP SHOTS!!!

I've turned it off because if I see one more player getting out courtesy of shocking shot selection (and it will happen) I will throw something through my TV. Seeing as Hussey, Symonds and Haddin are yet to come in, I think I've made the right decision.

Did any of our batsmen take any notice at all of Duminy's discipline? Obviously not.

While he's had lots of success - Ponting's record looks a little unenviable given the history of the last two decades.
First captain to lose the Ashes since AB got 'em back and it's looking likely we'll lose our first home series since the early 90s.

And Aleem Dar needs to go. We expect world-class players playing cricket. I think we should expect world-class umpires. How can we not have the best cricket umpire in the world (Simon Taufel) not officiating in a marquee series? Silly.

Having said that, at least the toys haven't come out of the cot, like India.

I know it's a minor point - but it's interesting the number of South Africans that have their shirts out - not tucked in. A very rare sight.

It looks that way but you'll find that they are actually wearing sleeveless jumpers. They are just not the traditional design with the coloured trim like the Australians so it doesn't look from a distance like a vest. I thought the same as you until i took a closer look.

I'll have another look.
I'm not so worried about how it looks - but as a bowler or fielder I'd find my shirt flapping around annoying. While as a batsman, a shirt hanging out could end up in a player being caught behind when they didn't really hit it. Sillier things have happened.

Decent partnership forming here. Early, I know, but our two best batting hopes are at the crease - the captain and the vice-captain. We need a 200 p/s from them at least. One of them needs to make a big ton.
