Game over, draw the result. Australia finally got the upper hand but the better team has retained the ashes. As is always the case, umpiring decisions are evening themselves out, even the drs ones.

Get the 'Big Show' into the test team. Smashed the Indians in the 'A' game tonight. 145 off 79 balls. 146 run partnership with Hazlewood for the 9th wicket off only 13.4 overs.

In Spudwell's defence he tore India A a new backside and that was all Warner needed to do to Sth Africa A to get back in the side.. ;)

Interesting you say that.. how often in test cricket do you see a really defensive field? Would I bet right is saying generally only 3 or 4 out of the circle anyway - a 3rd man, fineleg and sweeper at deep cover?

That is one of the only reasons i do like Warner at the top, at least he is prepared to have a dip

Yes but the bowling is to the field with the intention of taking wickets in Tests, ODI's are more about restricting runs. Bowlers would bowl more conservatively in ODI's than in Test cricket.

I don't disagree with that, but there is definitely an element of aggressive bowling/captaincy in ODI I mean surely as a captain you don't go out with the intention to restrict a side? Obviously with test matches its a war of attrition and you need to bowl sides out, but same could be said about ODI - get on the offensive and put the opposition on the back foot and control the game?

Yeah but due to the spread field in an ODI a mistimed shot is more chance to go to ground, in Test match cricket one mistimed shot and you're likely to be strolling around the changeroom avoiding Boof!

I find myself bemused by the idea England were happy with the draw because that means they retain the Ashes. I was under the impression it was going to remain there regardless of the result. Only England could celebrate keeping something they were never going to give up.
