Clarke is in his prime, and with our slightly suspect batting needs to do this to show the opposition "we are coming at you" IMO.
Good in theory, it's probably in his head that 5 is his spot.

Come on mate if my misses can get upset when a 'river boy' gets sent to jail, I can get a bit emotional when one of the greatest cricketers of all time retires!

Number's 3 & 4 are an obvious concern, the only way I could see Warner gain consistency is to bat lower in the order like Gilly used to when the bowlers are a bit tired, he seems to need the hard new ball though.
There is no immediate solution though and whoever we bring in will probably fail a few times early and lose confidence because we all call for their heads and label them as duds.

Agree, there won't be overnight sensation, and which is why I reckon Khawaja was a bit stiff to be left out of the side this time last year.

Cowan is obviously the 35-by-lunch type of opener for us, and not sure if Warner is the answer at the other end. As one of the nine commentators said the other day, even though Cowan and Warner haven't been batting badly themselves, they don't look like they have formed a "partnership". Perhaps Cowan/Watson would make a better partnership, LH/RH, Clarke 4, Warner 5. Maybe Khawja at 3?
Clarke wont move from 5 and why should he, averaging 100+ for the past 12 months there, maybe Warner at 6 & Hussey at 4, don't mess with what does actually work for us.

Here's to you Punter....here's to you.
I understand that though, It was something you want to see live (even if on tv) just the emotion of the crowd, the South Africans,
everything.
