I just find it funny how people have jumped off North so quickly! Hussey went through such a long patch of being out of form, and yes he had some points in the bank because how well he had done previously and how many times he saved our country, but still North has a damn good record for someone starting out in the test arena!

its also great watching a young 21year old, trying to find his feet at this level again, not being able to play his usual game but still hanging in there and putting the bad ball away when it comes!

Contrasting innings yes! Both enjoyable to watch IMO

Cheers mate, was probably wrong of me to ask which has been better, when both sound as though they are meritorious.

What are peoples thoughts on how many runs we need to be ahead by to be a big chance of winnings this test?

I think 200 will give us something to bowl at, but we will need a lot of luck to win from there. 250 will give us bit more breathing space, and i reckon we would be able to defend that.

Will we get that far ahead though?

big ask ck to get 450 odd in the 2nd dig, top 5 are the key, if 2 of these men can craft out big hundreds we are in the box seat. A lot rests with watson imo, the man in form in the top order, needs to make a big score, middle of day 3 aswell so plenty of time

Not going to be a traditional 5th day wicket at SCG so I would think 300 lead would be a minimum..
Realistically with the early weather and pitch moisture, day 5 will be more like a day 3 and 1/2 to day 4 surface...IMO

If we can get to 206 without loss before tea it's back to an even ball game, I'm thinking 300 in front with a day plus 5 or 6 overs would be a fair declarationif we can achieve this. History says anything over 150 on day 5 in Sydney is pretty hard chasing down, I'm not listening to history on this one though, Hauritz has been going alright recently but is he a potential match-winner?

Hughes out for 37, 100 opening partnership though, something to build on. Punter, shelf the pull and hook shots til you're past 30 at least.

Kaneria must be bowling well, he's been brought on from both ends.

40.1 Danish Kaneria to Ponting, no run, pitched wide and full of off stump, no shot offered
39.6 Danish Kaneria to Watson, no run, full delivery outside off stump, no shot offered
