Kat should be bowling a sh*tload more than what he currently does. I really rate his tweakers.

Why oh why didnt McGain play

Because he is sh1t.

Ill be offline most of the day so Mr REB can you please sort this mess out for Rodney..

Cheers

LOL. To be honest, I haven't seen a lot of McGain's bowling. I thought he bowled pretty well in the Shield final but he's struggled with fitness lately and he's as old as we are. That's probably the real reason why he is not out there.

He is massively overrated when it comes to his bowling IMO.

Bit hard to bowl the guy more when he says he can't because of an injury.

And if McGain didn't play, it was surely in McDonald's place. If not for McDonald's bowling at the end of day 2 then we may not even be in such a strong position. If we aren't good enough to bowl them out in a whole day when 2 are out and 1 can't bat (or can hardly bat at least) then so be it. But really, SA still need weather to help IMHO.

Yeah Australia well and truly in the box seat still.

Will be interesting if these two can bat until lunch and survive the new ball but really the end of the day came at the right time for Australia. Should be able to freshen up and settle down and take early wickets just like in the first test on day 5.

The match will pretty much hinge on the effectiveness of Mitch and Hilf with the new ball. Come away from the first session with 2-3 wickets and we're good to go.

Before we get too negative on MacDonald we need to remember what his role is today

He is the stock bowler to keep things tight while the fast men rotate to keep fresh during what will be a long day. He plays the same role a spinner would.

He has done his job very well so far this series IMO, as long as we keep clear on what his job actually is.

Will Graeme Smith bat if it's to save the series. He did in Sydney when it was a dead rubber.

I imagine he will if it's a similar situation to Sydney.

I don't agree with people saying dismissing someone shortly after they're given a life means it doesn't cost us much - it means two wicket-taking deliveries have been bowled. Who's to say the second wicket-taker couldn't have removed a second batsman?
