Monty Panesar has been given hope of relaunching his Test career after being named in England's squad to take on Pakistan in UAE next month. The 16-man party is very much as expected with Ravi Bopara retaining the spare batting slot and Steven Davies, the Surrey wicketkeeper, given the role of Matt Prior's understudy as he was in Australia.

England have two three-day warm-up matches before the first Test on January 16 although the opposition is still to be confirmed.

Squad
Andrew Strauss (capt), Alastair Cook, Jonathan Trott, Kevin Pietersen, Ian Bell, Eoin Morgan, Matt Prior, Tim Bresnan, Stuart Broad, Graeme Swann, James Anderson, Chris Tremlett, Steven Finn, Ravi Bopara, Monty Panesar, Steven Davies

5th ODI India v W.I.

David Boon (Match Referee

India 6/267

India had 2 golden ducks in the 1st over of the match off Roach.

The 49th over was a wicketless maiden with india only 5 wickets down. What odds were the illegal Indian bookies offering about that? 5,000/1 ?

W.Indies in reply 5/104 (20 overs)

Pollard 44*
Russel 14*

This Innings has been marred by some SHOCKING decisions against the Windies by you guessed it, the HOME town umpire Sudhir Asnani. It's no wonder that India dont want the DRS.
Samuels given out caught behind despite clearly missing it and the bowler did NOT even appeal. It was only a 1/2 an appeal by the keeper and no one else. DISGRACE !!!!

And then Ramdin is given out LBW to Jadeja, bowling left arm around the wicket. Ramdin plays forward, the ball angling down leg, pitches, basically goes straight on and would've missed leg stump by at least 6 - 8 inches. DIABOLICAL decision
What a JOKE !!!!!!

Meanwhile Pollard just smashes his 4th 6 out of the ground.

5/123 (23 overs)

pollard 52*
russel 24*

make that 5 sixes to Pollard, now 58*

The consternation surrounding Andrew Symonds selection in the 2003 World Cup was put into print.
He went out in his next dig and hit 143*

The following was written pre-game about Pollard:
http://www.espncricinfo.com/india-v-wes ... 44752.html

He hits ten sixes on the way to his maiden ODI hundred... Let's hope it is the first of many.

Afghanistan will play their first one-day international against a Test-playing nation when they meet Pakistan in Sharjah on February 10. The match will take place three days before the first match of the limited-overs leg of Pakistan's 'home' series against England in the UAE. Afghanistan played India and South Africa during the World Twenty20 2010, but in ODIs they have only faced Associate and Affiliate teams
