Here is a team that is getting bowled out in a day and your telling me that you cant fit a player with international centuries under his belt in the 11. What a joke!!! Fact is when blewett made is debut for SA whose spot did he take? Answer Nobes got dropped to make way for a young blewett. Seems this still cuts deep with Mr Nobes. Flipper has been made the scapegoat for some poor off field decisions including selections. The final straw will be if they strip boof from the captaincy you might as well give us the spoon again. Names such as Adcock and Harris should be worrying about cementing their spot rather than captaining a side.
Conspiracy theories are very entertaining, but the facts are Blewett's from in Grade Cricket this season wasn't as good as any of the players who were picked before him. Some of these players are also 10-12 years younger than Blewett. His international centuries were years ago, you can't consider those when selecting a team. Flipper made international centuries as well, does that mean we should pick him?
Once again, I am asking the question ... "Which mistakes did the selectors make?". The selectors would have looked silly had they have the Pura Cup final, and Blewett decided to go to the West Indies instead, like he has done rather than represent Kensington in the Grade finals. I wouldn't have selected Blewett simply because he didn't deserve to be picked. Maybe if he stayed off the sauce on Friday nights he would have done better.
Let me tell you something about selection of which you may not be aware. Selectors only put forward a team they consider to be the best 12 available. They are merely recommendations, their team still has to be ratified by the powers that be.
Rick Darling resigned last year because he was sick of their selected teams being rejected. I haven't spoken with any of the current selectors but I would bet they are suffering the same fate.
