How may times do our quicks do early damage , and then the opposition fights back
This is not a Botha slur
But the lack of a quality wicket taking spinner is a reason why this happens all too often

When will the selectors learn ?
Off spin bowlers are MOSTly ineffective on MOST Australian pitches
SA has played 2 together this season , a blunder
Perhaps SA should play 4 quicks, or play Christian next game for Botha

Botha is a very good acquisition in the Ryobi Cup
But in the SS his lack of wicket taking returns is a reason for SA being unable to finish teams off

Can't argue with any of this.

Just another 40 run 7th wicket partnership. This needs to be addressed before we ever cross the white line again.

What trollop. Blaming the selectors when SA has the nation's number 1 spinner. Who else should they pick, the number 2 spinner in the country? Botha is far and away the best spin option we have outside Lyon and no decent spinner will come here to be a #2 man. Botha holds his place because he and Christian can bat well enough to allow us to play a batter short.

Even funnier, you don't want an off spinner. Who would be the #1 spin bowler in Aus outside of off spinners? I reckon Botha would have him covered. The problem is a bowling attack that doesn't like to fight all day. Get a few wickets and that's the day. At least that works in grade cricket.

White has a first class average of 39 and has played test cricket.
The Victorian tail has been wagging for years that is why they have been so successful.
It is the last wicket that counts not the first.
For every one I miss I am closer to a hole in one.

I remember when we had Tim May and Peter Sleep in the same side. A leggy and an offie. Both played for Aust too but didn't exactly set the world afire. Holland and Bennett were dragged up from NSW grade cricket to bowl spin on an SCG wicket against the Windies in roughly the same era, though may have been just after Sleep's and May's day. But until one magnificent day when Warne came of age and skittles the Windies at the MCG Aust struggled to find a quality spinner. Now that the nimble fingered magician has retired those days have returned.
