As much as we've all been a fan of Ricky Ponting, he is now NO longer up to Test cricket. Geez he had a lot of ugly dismissels in the last 12 - 18 months. His foot work is all at sea early in his innings which is consistently finding him out early these days.

Great ball ?
5 years ago he would have hit the ball to mid off
Today , he feet were a muddle, as it has been in too many innings , early on , the last 2 seasons
No footwork , well there was footwork when he slipped and hit the deck

Now its up to your namesake to save the Australians AGAIN

Quiney out for the 2nd test to be replaced by Watson.

Ponting is going to need some bug runs in the 2nd innings and 3rd Test or else he wont be playing the 3 Tests against Sri Lanka

Before you shoot a load, calm down.. it's all well and good for him to come out and blast a quick 60 so far, but the issue with Warner - and most likely aways will be - his consistency!

What good is it having a bloke who once every half dozen tests comes out and scores runs? Also i'd like to see him for bat for extended periods of time instead of scoring 100 in 10 overs and being done with it...

Warner is a work in progress, his game is developing all the time. Of course as an opening batter you will fail, and the way he plays his dismissals will look ugly from time to time. He is averaging 40 over his first 10 tests..... so far from as inconsistant as you think.

Well said.

What I like about Dave is that he wants to be successful in Test cricket and has had to work hard as he burst into the spotlight via the shortest form and was tagged as a slogger.

We never had to call for anybody to be sacked for about 6-8 years....in fact it was the contrary- we were calling for blokes to be picked, just couldnt find a spot for them :D
