Starc going to keep getting 50-70 and average high 40's?

If he does then Dutchy will have stats on his side this time....FWIW I reckon Starc can bowl.

Starc bowled quite well during the T20 world cup, bowled in good areas for a large majority of the time, swung the ball consistantly and I hope he continues the form he was in into the test arena if he gets a spot. Probably the best Left arm option in the country at the moment and does add some good variety to the attack. Ahead of Cummins at the moment IMO who I feel is a bit erratic but is still very raw and will keep getting better.

I think the selectors may look to have Lyon in the side in place of Starc. The selectors like to have the option of the spinner. Still have the 4 quicks with Pattinson, HilF, Siddle and Watson.

Pattinson will get the gig in front of Starc, he is in very good 4 day form as opposed to Starcs good 20/20 form.

Yes, he should. I think Lyon will play too, as you said stan the selectors like having the option of the spinner.

Great to see Wade get the nod. However if Wade fails in the first test then I am almost certain Haddin will be in the mix for the second.

Current selectors are showing they don't like to change much. Harris the only out from last test.

Haddin is history.

Is it worth playing Lyon? No point playing him if he can't get wickets at Shield level, better off bowling big Micky Clarke a few overs and having the 4 quicks.

Leave Lyon at the Redbacks until he finds some sort of form, because if he plays the first test, i can see the saffers havin a field day.

Doesn't help playing matches on a road. I don't mind your line of thought though, always felt if you don't have a top-line spinner, don't just play one for the sake of it.

Agreed. Considering SAF are up there with the best players of spin in world cricket, the last thing we need is lyon playing and recording 0/120 or 1/150 odd. 4 Quicks with perhaps watto and clarke fulfilling part time duties.
