Worst bowling figures 1/65. Best bowling figures 1/43. Only five bowlers used, 10 overs each.

Could this be an enormous statistical milestone? The most homogenous bowling figures in the grand history of the one day game? I know one thing - it'd take someone a LOT more patient than I to figure it out!

When you are playing Steve Smith as a specialist fielder you are always going to struggle. Contributes nothing with the bat but at least the skipper is not stupid enough to throw him the ball.

Bailey is a good player at domestic level but he's no international number 3. We have some glaring weaknesses that could be solved by just picking the best players rather than persisting with duds. If we don't have a better batsman than Smith then we may as well give up.

Blewett defended Smiths selection saying he was playing a Andrew Symonds type role, brilliant fielder, bowl a few overs if needed and would be a good finisher with the bat. I think Greg was being diplomatic with his comments otherwise........

Pat Cummins out for the series....

http://www.espncricinfo.com/england-v-australia-2012/content/current/story/570642.html

Pat Cummins, the Australia fast bowler, has been ruled out of the remainder of the one-day series against England after sustaining a side strain during the opening match at Lord's on Friday.

Cummins took 1 for 53 in his 10 overs in the first match, having England captain Alastair Cook caught behind, but pulled up with pain after the game and has been diagnosed with a medium-grade strain.

Australian team doctor John Orchard, said: "Pat sustained an abdominal muscle strain on his left side during the first ODI at Lord's. Whilst he was able to complete his ten overs, he was sore after the game and was scanned, the results of which have revealed a medium grade side-strain. This will keep him out of the remainder of the England tour. His return to cricket will be decided in due course, based on follow-up examinations in Australia."

 A bit early for that. Remember he is still only 19 and both Glenn McGrath and Jason Gillespie had a lot of injuries when they were younger and look at the bowlers they became.

It is a worry, and worse, it means Mitchell Johnson got a game.

Plus-side, Smith got dropped.
