RAMPAUL
Just b4 stumps Rampaul played a sweep that smashed into Ed Cowans wrist
Cowan had to leave the field for treatment
Soon after Hilfenhaus bowled a short one at Rampaul
Rampaul turned his head, didnt play a shot and was hit in the helmet
Payback !!!
Still mystifies me how WI obtained a leg bye for this , should be a dead ball

Taking evasive action eliminates the dead ball.

I cant come to grips when someone gets hit in the helmet and gets a Leg Bye
Akin to someone being hit on the pad and getting a Helmet Bye

As I posted similarly once b4, in the future batsmen will wear a super substance ricocheting helmet, and head butt cricket balls for boundaries

Getting runs for being hit on the helmet does not make sense

There is a WICKET (3 stumps with 2 bails on them NOT to be confused with the 22 yards of turf between them which is called a PITCH not a WICKET which so many people wrongly refer to it as) generally found hiding behind the batsmens LEGS (those things with pads strapped to them) which is there for a reason - to bowl the ball at, hoping to hit it and dislodge at least 1 bail or alternatively trap the batsmen lbw to dismiss them from the playing arena.

Bowling a ball at the batsmens HEAD and going for HELMET BYES is the penalty for NOT bowling at the WICKET. Thems the rules Mal. ;)

Chanderjackpotjimpaul - You just cant admire the fighting qualities of this bloke enough - EVERY country would love to have this guy in there batting line up.
Rampaul appears to be another real fighter in the Windies team, can he and Shiv do a Wade/Hilfenhaus and steer the Windies somewhere close to Australias score?

I reckon its just Clarke keeping Wade on his toes, whilst giving Haddin a bit of encouragement.

COWAN/WATSON
Im not sure AU can afford both of these guys batting in the top 3
Both are non converters, that is they get starts and dont make big scores
Cowan made a very scratchy 55 in the 2nd dig [very good effort on this deck]
AU can carry Wattos ordinary recent batting, becoz of his excellent bowling
Ed does not bowl, so his spot is more vulnerable than Wattos
Cowans series 14 34 28 20 1 55
Watson need to open again, that IS his spot

STARC 2/29[12.2]
Something about him
Must be disconcerting for the batsman facing this bowler
He bowled a juicy half volley to Chanderjackpotjimpaul , who stroked it thru the covers 4
The next ball was an outswinging gem to the lefty than hit the seam and straightened up to get Chandijackpotjimpaul out LBW

PONTING 57[129]
This is probably the best Ive seen Ricky bat in any of his non ton innings the last 2 years
He batted with Mr Ed,no show pony, whilst Ricky looked superb
But whaddabout Rickys disMissAL !
He ducked a Roach bumper, as he ducked he left the bat dangling about his head, he edged the ball and got out
This is what some might call a periscope disMissAL
It reminded me of Douggie Walters, who repeatedly left his bat in the periscope possy, ,and has been out in this fashion

REFERRALS
The rule that has evolved into a overused tactic, was made to look a mock in this AU innings
Roach the bowler, Hussey the batsman
Roach appeals for an LBW , it looked close but missing leg was the decision
That was the 2nd referral declined, WI had no more left
A few balls later, same over, Roach appeals for another LBW against Hussey, given not out
No referrals left
Replays show this ball would have hit middle peg half way up
Hussey, from memory was still on 0 for both appeals
No justice at all for Roach

THE MATCH
AU 328
WI 218
AU 6/200
AU lead by 310 runs
This is about 60 runs more than what I reckon WI could chase
This pitch has something for all bowlers
AU will win this comfortably

Watching the replay today I though a couple of the Aussie dismissals were fairly soft, Clarke's especially.
Should still be more than enough of a lead, cant imagine them getting to 250

Harris has an LBW shout against Bravo turned down, decide not to refer it. Replay shows it hitting leg halfway up but still would have been umpires decision

The 10,000 club:
SR Tendulkar 15470 runs*
RT Ponting 13346 runs*
R Dravid 13288 runs
JH Kallis 12379 runs*
BC Lara 11953 runs
AR Border 11174 runs
SR Waugh 10927 runs
DMPD Jayawardene 10440 runs*
SM Gavaskar 10122 runs
S Chanderpaul 10055 runs*

Just ten men have made it the far, and until Chanderpaul's entry, you would have said they were all undoubtedly legends of the game, I still do say that, Sunny Gavaskar will likely move to tenth on the all time list within Shiv's next Test match.

Among current players, Kumar Sangakkara (9382 runs), VVS Laxman (8781), and Sehwag (8178) are the next closest, but with age, only Kumar might push the five-figure barrier.
My next pick to get to the milestone is a bloke hanging in the middle-to-low ranks of all time run scorers, currently wedged between Mohammed Azharrudin and Herschelle Gibbs, an Englishman with 6184 runs, and a penchant for big centuries, Alistair Cook.
