2013 Who ?

Both Brad Haddin and Tim Paine need to pull the finger out
Matthew Wade is fast tracking himself into a Test berth before 2013
Matthew is arguably the best batsman in the Domestic comp so far in the 2011/2012 season

SS
278 RUNS
55.6 AVERAGE

RYOBI
172 RUNS
57.33 AVERAGE

Perhaps he may become a Richie Robinson
Robinson was the Victorian keeper who was chosen to play Test cricket in 1977
Robinson was picked as a batsman , after some brilliant batting in the SS at that time
Rodney Marsh was the keeper
Robinson played 3 Tests against England in England
He opened the batting on debut, and than batted middle order in the last 2 tests
Robinson made a 100 at Test Level, a 100 in aggregate in his 6 innings

Could Matthew Wade play Test cricket as a specialist batsman ?
I say NO
But as a keeper batsman, an emphatic YES
The aging Brad Haddin has his successor in the wings

PS
B4 Wade played 1 game of First Class State cricket, Mighty tiger79 told me Wade would play Test Cricket

Bit harsh on Paine. He's injured. I'd have Wade in right now.

RICKY PONTING
12635 runs
52.64 average

Will Ricky Ponting be there in 2013 ?
The first time I saw Ponting struggling against pace was against India 2008/2009
Sharma troubled Ponting in that series
The stats since Sharma troubled him

266...38.00 V IN When Sharma troubled him
100...33.33 V NZ
285...47.50 V SA
210...35.00 V SA
385...48.12 V EG
136...34.00 V WI When Roach troubled him
378...63.00 V PA Made a 200 this series, dropped when on 0
069...23.00 V NZ
098...24.50 V PA
224...56.00 V IN
113...16.14 V EG
124...31.00 V SL
070...17.50 V SA
099...33.33 V NZ

The last 14 series
only twice averaged over 50
The last 7 series he has only averaged 50 + in one series

Used to be an awesome leg side player
Recent times :
Has had troubles hooking
Has had troubles LBW on balls pitched near leg stump
His eye is the factor in his diminishing form
When your eye is not as it used to be you need a good technique
His backlift is very high, he comes down on the ball too late too often these days, hence a spate of LBWs
Quite simply he is getting out too often to what used to be bread and butter signature shots
If he was in form, he would still be batting at 3

Age catches up with everyone
Otherwise Dennis Lillie, Greg Chappell, Alan Border and Neil Harvey would still be playing

Having said all this, he is likley to make good contributions against the Indians 2011-2012 if the pitches are flatter

MIKE HUSSEY
Mr Cricket should be called Mr Up and Down these days
Theres 2 of him, the one that dominates and the one that deteriorates
Has played in 22 series in total
I will include Averages and Teams played against for all his career
WI 120.33
SA 55.80
SA 64.25
BA 80.66
EG 91.60
SL 149.5
IN 48.66
At this stage of his career Mr Cricket was the 2nd best since Bradman ! , had a phenominal start to his career
WI 22.83
IN 56.28
NZ 35.00
SA 17.00 was hit in the head this series
SA 22.00
EG 34.50
WI 47.00
PA 66.75
NZ 31.00
PA 23.00
IN 24.75
EG 63.33
SL 92.60
SA 15.00
NZ 7.70

5188 runs
51.36 average

Overall those stats are extremely good for a guy that bats mainly in the lower top order
As he gets older , I have noticed he has mostly struggled more against fast bowlers and on pitches that have some give in them
At one stage in a form slump Adelaide Hawk aptly named him him Mr Snickett !
From around the time the South Africans peppered him with short pitched bowling, we started seeing a chink in Mikes armour
In his last 13 series, he has averages 50+ 3 times, and gone is my 2nd best batter since Bradman tag

The verdict
Im tipping he will have a feast series against India on the likely flatter decks
He will be facing faster bowlers with the shine off the ball, and spinners who find it harder in Australia
He should be dynamite against that sort of attack
If he cant make runs this series, Im afraid it is bye bye time
Prob wont be there in 2013 ?, when he will be 37 at the start of the year

Well imho anyside looking at 2013 you can pencil in

-Lyon
-Pattinson
-Warner
-Cummins

and hopefully Khawaja steps up against the Indians and secures his spot in the test side.

Im not so sure as i said on another thread i think Siddle has enough tricks to make it against the world class batters. The India series will be a real test for him and ill wait until then before making him a certain starter.

Remember the last 2 real world class batting line ups he has bowled against South Af last month and England last year he struggled

Figures being

South Africa (in November) = 2 matches, 4 wickets @ 51.25 in what was superb bowling conditions
England (Ashes last year)= 5 matches, 14 wickets @ 34.57 *he took six wickets in two innings and then only 2 wickets total in the other five innings.
