I agree. Perhaps Lightning was referring to Mal's next post in here rather than the selection itself?

He doesn't play one day or four day cricket, why would he be on the list?

And he doesn't fit Berry's game plan too nicely in T20 either, be surprised if he's a Striker as well, to be honest.

Someone said earlier that Tait is going to play for Boof in QLD's team but barring injury we will see Tait playing for the Redbacks later this year in the Champions League Twenty20.

So he plays for Qld's T20 side, when he is finished playing for the Redbacks T20 side, but doesn't play one-dayers, Shield or Test matches....lucky the bloke doesn't try to over do it.

Don't blame the cricketer Boon, blame the stupid short attention span limited edition polished turd that is teeball. Not the first to take a teeball shortcut and he won't be the last. Come on mate nice 'work' if you can get it.

Representing your state means nothing now. Well done CA.

My point is, he doesn't want to over load his schedule to ensure he avoids injury, yet over loading his wallet for doing f'all, he seems to have no problem with that.

And if your body didn't cope with that, would you not work at all or do some work that would allow you to do as much as physically possible?

If a lucrative form of 'cricket' existed that allowed you get paid a lot more money and a lot less work then you wouldn't be trying all that hard to 'do as much as physically possible'. Tait..a smart bloke who cashed in...he came back and made some money.

Dennis Lillee...an absolute champion. He had a terrible back injury but he played a season of club cricket as a batsman and endured a tough rehabilitation program because he wanted to WEAR THE BAGGY GREEN for Australia. He came back and helped us win the Ashes.

REB, in fairness, Lillee had no alternative as really test cricket was all there was. I am not saying if he played 40 years later that he would make the same decision as Tait did but it's easy to say he chose test cricket when there wasn't really a choice to be made. He either played cricket for Australia or he worked in a bank.

Lillee then was a key part of the break-away WSC designed to get more money into player salaries. Again, a worthy cause in hindsight but it meant that for 2 years and possibly for the rest of his career (as far as he knew at the time) he wore the baggy yellow.

My point was that teeball provides an easy out. Would Tait have played in club cricket as a batsman as part of his comeback if he was from the earlier era? All signs point to no. As for Lillee and the (not so) Baggy Yellow he still suited up for SuperTests, again Tait would not have done this based on his current decisions.

Whereas nowadays, knowing a lot more about rehab and the capabilities of individual bodies, some players are simply not able to play the longer format. And if Dennis Lillee had Shaun Taits action he'd be in a wheelchair by now if he'd undertaken the same rehab program that he did 30+ years ago.

Pretty easy to judge a bloke on what you think he thinks, but it doesn't mean you're right.

Yeah, I know it's not quite apples and apples. All I am suggesting is that the money you earn from the game is a factor for most sportspeople at the highest level. G Chappell stopped touring overseas after 1980 or so and I think Lillee missed a tour to Pakistan due to personal financial reasons.

I think we assume that Tait could play long form cricket if only he tried harder but what if he's assessed himself right and we haven't?

I thought there was a separate thread for bagging out Spud Tait... Until he's confirmed as having pissed off to QLD, then let's focus on ACTUAL players moving...?

Just a thought...
