Would Blizzard be the most disappointing recruit the backs got this season?? I honestly thought before the season he would add more firepower to the batting and be a good pick up but really he has done nothing!!

Manou has been very good over the last 5 years. Doesn't let us down with his keeping, while his batting is more than good enough now.

If I was making a list of what I'd be looking for, a middle order bat would be #1, opening bat #2 and then look for some bowlers after that. Our keeper slot is really the only thing we've got that is competitive with the other states. Our batting and bowling are far behind, I'd be trying to fix that first.

Adam Croswaithe is the bloke that I have wanted since Wade kicked him out the vic side.

I think he Is a gun, and will definitely help us in the shorter forms of the game, maybe even the longer form as well

Blizzard most runs for the redbacks

What encouragement would that be out there for young SA keepers ? Surely, there must be someone out there worth a crack.
I dont reckon the bowlings that bad honestly, not often they have been really carted this year. Batting is the problem obviously.
Hope they give Chadd Sayers a decent run next season. He could be the allrounder that shores up the batting and the bowling.

Correctamunday Locky, especially if as they are saying he has been pushed rather than on his own terms. He is the 1 SACA player in 4 day cricket that can hold his head high and say, well I had a pretty good year. Unfortunately you get nothing for the WK, so he probably won't win the Lord Hamden Trophy for most valuable player, but I have no doubt he should. His batting has been solid most of the year, imagine if he was coming in a 5/250 instead of 3, 4 or 5 for not many.

I did a bit of research and see that Crosthwaite is only 26. I don't think he would be my first choice, I stated before Ryan Carters is the man (kid) we should be after, he will be forced to leave Vic because Wade is only 23 / 24 and will be around for some time. Haven't seen much of Carters keeping, but he can seriously bat. Personally I don't think Luderman is a good enough bat to force his way into SA team, we have enough problems putting runs on the board, so would prefer a batting / keeper rather than a keeper / batsman. And yes, that does fly in the face of a previous comment I made about picking the best keeper first, just don't think SA can afford that at this time.

Chadd's old man will be pleased about this Swerv...... The Messenger Media campaign has worked

H31, I think the selectors are probably sick of reading the sunday Mail 5 for, 6 for, week after week, long overdue, I honestly thought at one stage of sending in my bowling stats and I would get a game before Chadd. This should have happened some time (seasons) ago. I think the red wine would be tasting very nice in the members bar for young Deano.

Crosswaithe has moved to NSW and hasn't made any impact. Carters is more than handy with the bat (that seems to be the 1st category you need to tick to be a keeper).
Tom Triffitt could be worth a look being behind Tim Paine in Tassie.
Smith from NSW is not getting a game at the moment either.
Bottom line is if the ball doesn't get past the bat there are other issues than the keeper.
For every one I miss I am closer to a hole in one.

I must say i agree, although not a massive fan of Manou and in particular his captaincy, at the end of the day he is a solid gloveman, he can hold a bat and he tends to always contribute - although not outstanding neither are the rest in the side.
He got a CA contract and played a test, not based on his Gilchrist batting but his solid glovework. Wind back the clock 10 or so years and we would be all over him, now days everyone expects the keeper to be a top knotch batsman and tear games apart!
I feel for Manou, especially if he is being pushed out of the side as is reported.

Our wicketkeeper...Manou..is one area that our side does NOT need drastic attention.

He has been required to bat at number six this year, mostly due to a lack of decent batsmen and still been able to produce good results.
552 runs @ 39.42
1 century
1 half centuries

PLUS lets not forget what his role actually is TO KEEP WICKETS....which he continues to do at a VERY ******* HIGH LEVEL

We need to get off the Manou bashng..if this was about performance he would be close to the last person to be looking over his shoulder

There is a LOT MORE to the retirement than seems to be in the discussion...one word.....HEART (something that Chocco has always had)

Brod , it was not neccessarily Manou bashing by the forumites
Some posters, myslef included ridiculed how and why Choko was batting top 4 at times
His elevation in the batting order proved to be wrong
There were several posters howling for him to bat at 7 or 6 at very best
Since he has been batting at 6-7 his batting improved

Geeeez I hope he gets a ton TOMorrow, and set up a win for his team mates

BROD not that iv seen many shield games, but damn i have read he has missed a truck load of catches/stumpings in all formats. His keeping is a tad overrated these days. I personally think its bat at 7 and contribute well or get a better gloveman (AC is IMO) and miss a couple runs at 7 and still be ahead with AC.

This retirement due to his problems with the heart im assuming?

Well done on a great career, not many people can say they got to play in an ashes test match, the dream of all young cricketers.
