No chance of that happening at all that side.

Watto
Paine
Ponting
Clarke
White
M.Hussey
Haddin
D.Hussey
Hauritz
Mitch
Tait

Clarke will have to be the 6th bowler.
If M.Hussey isn't going, Marsh in to open and drop Painey down.
I think they didn't need all 5 quicks, should've gone the extra batsman or recognised all-rounder, sorry, I'm still spewing.

If both play then Haddin opens. He's the better bat with far more pedigree batting higher up. And I presume batting D. Hussey at 8 you're picking him mainly for his bowling? Batting is weakened here just for the sake of picking Paine, then covered by having a bloke who is really a batsman who bowls a bit in at 8. Realistically Paine and Haddin won't be in the same team unless there's an injury and Haddin will play. And so he should. Far better player at the moment.

Watson
Haddin
Ponting
Clarke
M. Hussey
D. Hussey
White
Johnson
Lee
Hauritz
Bollinger

Far from a side full of champions and some are lacking some form, but no need to panic. We're still the best in the world at this format, all those guys have good one day pedigree (or at least better than the options). Tait if he can get through 10 overs intact in instead of Bollinger.

Smith looks a million miles from an international cricketer. Hardly looks like a state cricketer to be honest. But people want to pick kids and give them a go regardless of form or performance, this is what you get.

Specialist fielder who isn't even that great a fielder. How much do we miss Andrew Symonds?

So is Steve Smith..
a) a crap leg spinner who can bat a bit?
b) a crap batsman who can bowl a bit?
c) a good fieldsman who can bat and bowl a bit?

Smith out too a loose shot for a duck.

LM yeah I think a bowler short. One quick man short for sure, especially when you have Mitch in the side. I wouldn't trust that bloke at all, especially in the one day arena. I would trust Tait to bowl ahead of him.

I think lee is our best ODI bowler and is needed for us to win the world cup. Also don't think M. Hussey will get up, and Paine will only play if an injury occurs.

The more Steve Smith fails the more contempt I feel for the selectors. FFS he is still yet to do anything, how many chances does this muppet get? Steve Smith = EPIC FAIL. And don't get me started on Clarke!

It's pretty obvious the selectors have got it wrong with Smith.
Yes everyone was asking for youth to be brought into the side but Smith isn't the answer (yet) & I respect the selectors for not chucking him to the scrap heap after his first failure & giving him a go in all formats but surely after today enough is enough.

this summer

3 Tests - 159 runs (6 Inns - 7, 36, 6, 38, 18 & 54*)
2 ODI - 5 Runs (2 Inns - 5 & 0)
2 T20 - 28 Runs (2 Inns - 15* & 13)

Funny to think with Watson becoming so reliable with both bat and ball and opening it gives us so many options. Instead of needing to find 5 bowlers we only need 4, and with Dave Hussey a good option for some overs of spin we can even get away with 3 specialist bowlers and an all rounder. We can have such a long middle order with good hitters, but so few blokes around are forcing the selectors to pick them.

Still plenty of time to score 200+, just need someone to stick around with Marsh (and for Marsh not to do something rash). Will probably have to be Bollinger. Tait is a slogger and nothing else. Bollinger isn't much, but he's got a level head most of the time.
