Smithy Im sure you will agree that Glen and Dennis are prob 2 of the greatest fast bowlers AU has ever produced
Douggggggggggies career is pretty good in comparism
Douggggie has a better strike rate of getting wickets than the 2 champs, albiet for only 50 wickets
Im sure looking at that record that Dougggggie is a lethal destructive new ball bowler
And if you take off Dougggies Adelaide road figures, his record b4 that was even better

Mate, not only are your comparisons not on the same page, they are not even in the same library, Douggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggie has a long way to go to even deserve to be compared to these two legends.
Poor selection, Aussies going backwards again, the Poms loved his bowling after the deck settles down, not fast enough to be intimidating and not persistent enough to force errors.

MAL - I'm sure if Douggie had played the same amount of test as those 2 his strike rate would've increased.
PLus, of those 50 wickets he has, 8 are against England, South Africa and India.
The other 42 are against test giants New Zealand, West Indies and Pakistan.

Back to my original point, I was comparing his selection to Copeland.
Why not play the 24 year old ?

Who is to say he could not reproduce those figures against EG/SA/IN
On what he has done against NZ/WI/PA, he deserves a crack at the other teams

Common sense.

Whos saying Douggie is as good ?
Douggies stats are as good however for the time being
Ive metioned phrases like ''the 2 champs''...''the 2 greatest fast bowlers AU has ever produced."" [= Glen and Dennis not Douggggie]

This post was merely showing that Douggies record COMPARES with Glen and Dennis
That is meant to highlight that Douggggggie has had a good short career SO FAR

No doubt he has had a good start, But he at the moment he is not the answer IMO.

Underdone and he does not seem to trouble England.

Number one rated team in the world is India
Dougggggie v India
2/49[16]
3/32[8]

B4 all of youse Mick Jaggerise me and Start Me Up
HERES MY SUMMARY ON DOUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGIE

1 His 11 Test career compares on stats with Lillie and Mcgrath
2 Dougggggie is nowhere near as good as Glen and Dennis
3 He has performed very well v lower ranked Test teams
4 He has failed in one test v EG when clearly unfit
5 His debut first innings of 0/78 v SA was disMAL, but his 2nd innings of 2/53 was good
6 His efforts against the big3 IN/SA/EG = 5 innings bowled for 3 good efforts[India is exceptional]
7 He is clearly a better option than Copeland AT THIS STAGE
8 Douggie is a lethal bowler in his 11 test career SO FAR

The most important of all factors
He deserves another elongated stint as a Test Cricketer
Whether he performs is another agenda
I think if he is fit, he will pay his way

He does not trouble EG ?
Have you ever tried bowling unfit on a First Innings Adelaide Oval deck?
Not many quicks have excelled on the King William road , first innings in recent times

You don't go into a 5 day test "unfit", especially a frontline bowler. Listen the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and "Give it away" ;)

Please read

Greg Chappell, the selector, took Nielsen on as an assistant at South Australia in 1999. When Chappell has been watching training over the past month he seems desperate to want to take over.

Speaks volume of where we are at the moment when a a debutant who has only scored 37 gets a standing ovation, by most of the crowd as he walks off....

or maybe it says more about those who did stand to clap him off at Sydney, knowledge of this game.

FFS a standing ovation for a score of 37 give me a break....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

He showed more in that 37 than what our 3 and 4 have all summer.
Maybe in 10 years time those who applauded can say to their kids they saw usmans debut

Not disputing the fact about that test, what about the other soft dismissals this series. The kid showed him up today and gave us a glimpse of what we have missed all summer.
Ps was hit on thumb 3rd ball a couple of years ago, batted for 45 more minutes. When i got out i removed my glove and my thumb bone was hanging out. Dislocated and broken in 4 spots. The 3 pins have been removed but will have the 2 screws for life, still playing but hurts when catching

No guts at all, was selfish he clearly wasnt fit to play the fourth test but put himself ahead of the team.

Im a massive Ponting fan and think he should come straight back into the side when fit maybe batting down the order, possibly at 4 instead of Clarke BUT that wasnt one of Pontings finest moments.

He didnt have to bat in a test with a broken finger.

Another one of your little gems. You want Clarke dumped but want Ponting straight back in, surely if Clarke goes then Ponting has to as well?
