he just had to go, the guy has never been serious about his commitment to the cause, everyone knows he has got the talent, but these days talent alone doesnt cut it, bottom line he is a slob and it doesnt matter where he tries his hand whether it be up in qld or staying over in the uk, his attitude will be his downfall, a leopard never changes its spots, cya faty

This was on the cards for some time and so is really no great shock. Cosgrove has previously been suspended for lack of professionalism towards SACA cricket and this has had none/little positive impact upon him/his attitude. There have been players in the past who have played the fool and messed around off field (Lehmann early in his career), but when it came time to knuckle down and perform they DID. This is/should be the focus of this..Cosgrove has not performed and more importantly progressed. Cosgrove had one good and one very good Australian FC seasons (03/04 ave 45.6 & 05/06 ave 66.9) the rest of his career in Australia had yielded a FC average of just over 32 and another thing that must count against him, is that in eight Australian FC summers he has played more than eight games only once.

In looking at this it is apparant that SA are to bottom out and reload, but three stats make this more concerning
- Australian U19 side 15 players (2 from SA)
- Centre of Excellence 2010 induction 28 players (1 from SA)
- SA's squad from last year has only four players that are now under 23 (Smith 21, Cranmer 21, Richardson 19, Francis 19)

Where will the next Redbacks come from????

the next redbacks players will come from nsw,wa,qld, tas, vic

rohrer and forest both performed very well given the chance - i would like to see us get one more attacking fast bowler to compliment george - darren pattinson was chased but i dont think that is happening

Yes, I think Chris Duval not being fit most of the season really hurt our attack. Hopefully he can get the frame right for next season.

Kidding right?

The blokes record is terrible at 1st class level. IMO he shouldnt be getting a gig at all on the contract list!

I would be offering cleary and putland 2 years at least!

If they are to chase anyone, i would chase Cameron from NSW. That bloke can bowl IMO

Not kiddding at all - the bloke offers plenty as a bowler.

At best he can be a restrictive bowler but he isn't a real wicket taker. He can add some valuable contributions with the bat but surely he isn't the player we are planning to plan an attack around.

Whatever you think of both Cullen and Cosgrove, it's a sad state of affairs when five years ago these blokes were going to be our next big things. Regular Australian caps predicted for both of them and here we are....

Bye bye Dan! :ymapplause: :ymapplause:

I would've liked to see him get a few more ODD games last year as he's handy in that form of the game. Ah well, FC hack.

Cullen can't spin the ball and Cosgrove refused to get himself fit. I don't think we will see the same thing happen with Ferg, I just hope he fully recovers from his knee op as he should play quite a few games for Australia in the future.

If he's fully fit and scoring runs, he'll be an International regular in the limited overs sides, and mightn't play a heck of a lot of State cricket. Who's the VC?

Jamie Cox on news tonight justifying decisions made, wouldnt comment on captaincy issue, stated if Mark Cosgrove wasnt such a nice guy he would have been sacked a few years ago.
