True, but there is a code of conduct that was introduced several years ago that prohibits bowlers from giving batsmen the send off. Exuberant or not, he should have been fined.

Are we still talking about Aamer's supposed "send-off" of Ponting deserving to be fined? Surely not? Please, one little fist pump is absolutely nothing compared to Watto's efforts v WI. Why wouldn't a kid celebrate dismissing one of the best batsmen he's probably ever seen? It certainly wasn't a send-off by any stretch of the imagination. Unbelievable. :?

What a lot of cod wallops, nothing like Watsons send off. Aamer didnt run up to Ponting and get in his face. I saw a KID give a fist pump like what Brett Lee gives when he got a number 11 out when bowling.

Edited for accuracy!

Well, if that's the rules he should be fined, but still think he would be a bit stiff to be fined and that the "incident" was not a shade on the severity of Watson's.

WATTO luvs a scrap yes, but if you look at the Aamir v Watto ball by ball duel, the young Paki quick won on points
Only a butterfingered gully fielder changed the headlines today
Watto out for 99 = Aamir won the battle

Would have won by boredem. What boring cricket if he was bowling like that to anyone else he would get bagged. 2 inches from a wide every ball for an hour thrilling stuff..

Thats test cricket. if watson was good enough or had the balls he could of changed his stance, gone the drive or cut a lot earlier then what he did. Aamer was trying to get a wicket which he very nearly did on a flat wicket. smart bowling if you ask me

Its called smart cricket.

Here is a man who was obviously nervous and anxious to get to his first test century and Pakistan played it perfectly and realistically should have got their man.

Maybe you should stick to 20/20

Well said. Perfectly executed plan from Pakistan until the catch went down. Was far from boring either. It was a fascinating 45 minutes or so of cricket IMHO.

It was a very good plan by the Pakis
To transgress even further
Watto as an opener b4 the 120 not out
runs 596
balls faced 1161
about 51 strike rate
or very close to 1 run per 2 balls
in those innings he has batted 1413 minutes
about 1 run per 2.5 minutes

FROM 90-100 RUNS
Going by his stats we could expect under norMAL circumstances that Watto would take
25 minutes to score 10 runs
20 balls to score 10 runs

Bearing in mind the PAKIS needed to dry up the scoring , thier best chance to draw the test as well
Watto took almost an hour in the 90s

The Pakastanis executed the plan well
They frittered away POSSIBLY 40 minutes of time
And they slowed a batter well set on 90
And they would have gotim for 99 if the bloke in gully could catch a cricket ball

That cricket was not boring it was good as seeing my man Davey Warner bash 50 in 18 balls in the blinkfest the next day

Imagine if he was out for 99
Sledging, kiss blowing, press bonanza, the anti Watto foundation on safooty would have had a field day !!!

The amusing part about Watto's 100 were all the previous posts anticipating what he was likely to do in terms of celebration because he was such a wanker (their words. not mine). All he did was remove the helmet. hold it aloft with one hand whilst acknowledging his team and the crowd with the other.

No histrionics as we've seen from many other players over the years, no sinking to the ground on his knees, no leaping around kissing badges on helmets, etc, just a good old fashioned wave to the crowd.

There must have been so many disappointed people with fingers poised on their keyboards just waiting to post their "utter disgust" at what they hoped would be appalling behaviour. Just gives them yet another reason to dislike him I guess. :)

Or he learnt his lesson from being pulled into line by Ponting (and the media coverage) after carrying on like a pork chop after that Gayle wicket.

Smart cricket would not be having your worst fielder in the area where you are trying to get a catch.

I saw an interview with Watto the other day, he gave young Aamer a huge wrap, he definetely won some points from me, it was great to hear.
