Shows you know very little about cricket Rodney
After all

TESTS 11
902 RUNS
47-47 AVE
3 TONS

FIRST CLASS MATCHES 129
11707 RUNS
53-21 AVE
35 TONS

How could anyone with those stats expect to make the contract list ...

They probably don't want to pay someone for not doing anything, it means nothing really, if he becomes fit and is who they to play, then they'll just put him in and pay him accordingly.
I can't work out this CA contract list, you can still represent your country when you are not even on a 25 man list.

Average age is almost 29, would've thought there was some young talent around that they could have in the group and blood.

Why would they restrict themsleves to 25 people for 3 forms of the game to select from? The 25 man list is who they view as the best 25 cricketers in the country at the time and they know that there will be people from outside that list they will have play at certain times throughout the 12 month period the contract goes for. Phil Hughes couldn't have played in South Africa if your method was inforce because he wasn't a contracted player at the time.

That's my point mate, I think it's just a prestige thing, go back to the old days I say.

good topic i think CA actually gives contracts to blokes who will play at test and one day level but then with the last two or three spots they reward the guys who had an outstanding season the year before. There is no other reason why a guy like C. White or even Hodge gets a contract because as far as im concerned there are plenty of talent ahead of them.

Think Jaques is extremely stiff to miss out considering Hauritz got a contract and I couldn't care less that Hauritz is a bowler and Hughes a batsman and I guess it shows how pisspoor the quality of spin bowling is in Australia at the moment that Hauritz is considered a front line spinner.
