3rd Test v South Africa

First Class Cricket Talk (International and State)

Postby Punk Rooster » Tue Apr 04, 2006 12:02 am

Hussey & Marto have both reached half centuries- this is Marto's chance to stand up & deliver some runs when Australia needs them. Hussey'll be good for a ton, should Marto get one, well he's delivered. One swallow doesn't make a summer, but at least we'll have a test that we can remember him doing it in.

Hussey out for 89.

Symonds & Gilchrist - two very responsible innings in the circumstances. No surprises there. Good protection for the tail and Langer.

All up to Marto & Warnie. 58 to win now.

Warnie out.

Hope we can survive until stumps. Maybe Langer will have to bat.

I would say none, as AB cant bowl and his fielding is on par with smiths batting.

Whitewash!

3-0, including a test played with only 10 batsmen.

The bride went out for the night and I could not leave the TV to get my dinner. Ah well Rye on Rye did the trick. Bullshit Tony Africaaan. Bet Langer was padded up and ready. Not many other nations understand the Aussie Spirit.

I think this is a good point. As an Australian who played the game at a reasonably good level, I often wonder what in hell people are whingeing about when it comes to the Australians and their on field behaviour. As we progress through local ranks we are used to the banter that goes on out in the middle, and by the time an Australian reaches Test level he thinks nothing of throwing around what he considers to be harmless sledging, simply designed to distract the batsman.

Some other nations simply cannot handle it, and therefore label the Australians as ugly, amongst other things. I would like to remind those other nations that they do some things that Australians consider unacceptable as well, so it's a two-way street. Aussies want to win more than any other nation in the world, and they will show this in the upcoming Ashes series.

That is also a good point. It's funny how we are the Ugly Australians when we are winning. Everyone loved us when we were being belted in the mid 1980s.

I love the hard-edged competitiveness to our cricket and have never been of the opinion that we are "Ugly Australians" when winning ... However, on the rare occasions things aren't going our way I think some members of the group have a tendency to portray an "Ugly Australian" appearance .. That would be my only concern
