Why would someone living in a rural area want to pay $400 rego and have to travel each weekend to play cricket when they probably get paid to play at a club level

Obviously they dont want to play higher, if a rural player has the talent but also is committed to having a crack they will do what it takes

Sorry for pointing out an obvious flaw in our cricket set-up, SACA should be similar to the SANFL, we need to spruce it up to get the best players in the state playing.

I have said this before, its time SACA pull the clubs in to gear and become more professional in their approach you do not need money to do this. There are not too many clubs but the best players in the state are not playing grade cricket. I would get rid of the D grade first by putting them in adelaide turf instead. Basically it not about too many teams just how the grades are set up. If you get rid of the D garde and have under 21 grade to keep the boys in the system and concentrate on development.

They need to inject some money into district cricket, offer financial benefits for merger, money that has to be spent on making district cricket more attractive to prospective players. I'm sure there's enough talent in ATCA and country SA to make SA produce better results.

If you knew what has been on offer to clubs for about 8-10 years you'd fall off your bar stool. Noone wants to even broach the subject and won't until SACA shows some nuts and tells a couple to merge. Prospect & Uni merging would be a good start, then, Woodville, Port & West Torrens as West Districts. All of a sudden you've got a 10 team comp with a bit of grunt hopefully and blokes are not just getting A grade games at these clubs because they are there with no competition for spots.

District Cricket is the equivallent of the SANFL comp
Would supporters want Norwood to merge with North
South to merge with Glenelg
And these clubs lose thier identities ?
I would not like my old club Woodville to merge with Post adelaide in district cricket, something would be lost

It just has to happen at some point !!!!!!!!!!
Re: Mark Sorrell Sacked
Put ego's and history aside...
Western Districts ( Port, Woodville )
North Adelaide (University, Prospect)
North Eastern Districts ( TTG, East Torrens )
Eastern Districts ( Kensington, Sturt )
South Eastern Districts ( West Torrens, Glenelg )
Adelaide
Southern Districts
Northern Districts
You get the best 88 players each week pitted against each other....
Will never happen, but would certainly improve cricket in SA
