I'd think you'd find it was more than a couple REB.

Why is there a fixation with having a spinner ? FFS the Indians don't love the pace and bounce of the Aussie pitches. Lets serve it up too 'em.

Going well here LOL. Good point about the Indians tho. Not too keen on the bouncy pill. Just a bit worried if we limit our options in attack. Remember these clowns scored 700 against us last time.

Thats when they were a tad younger and in form, guys like Laxman etc been out of form now for awhile, but I still think Dravid will be a thorn, love the way this guy goes about his cricket

Agreed about Dravid. He is a star. The Indians are in a bit of trouble though if they continue to pick "Gin" Ganguly. The guy is not up to it anymore. At his best he was a good one day cricketer but in the test arena he struggles particularly against quality quick bowling. His return from the wilderness reeks of desperation from the Indian selectors.

Shame oh Shame on you Rod Rooster, fancy talking about royality like that, say that at the oval and you will be subjected to ten lashes, just ask King Gangully, he will tell you how good he still is, pity we can all see the writing on the wall, I would love to see Dravid have a top series, dunno what it is but I can just sit at ease and watch him bat all day :D

Why not play 4 quicks
HOGG + MACGILL are up for a hiding v India
When spinners come on to bowl thier batsman crack a fat
These guys have made mincemeat out of Shane Warne in the past
Our best spin effort v India was Pup Clark 6/9 he can be our spinner with Roy

Yes younger but some of these batsmen are starting to look pretty good again, Dravid always causes us trouble and may again, Tendaulker has been in great form and without McGrath and Warne dont be surprised if he makes a couple of centuries. You really never know what you are going to get with Sourav, he is a beautiful player through the off side but Rod is right, he may just be past it. The question is what will you get from Sehwag, Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh and co. On these pitches i would say not a great deal.

Dont rule MacGill out just out either. Pups bowling was on one of the worst wickets i have seen, just a rubbish pitch built so that India could regain some credibility from the series and that nearly backfired as well so i would not read to much into that spell.

If they dont pick Hogg or Stuart then they should not play any spinner. For those who think they should select Cullen then you have rocks in your head, he is just not up to it, to throw him in against the likes of Dravid, Tendaulker, Dhoni, Ganguly is just crazy and wont be considered IMO.

Hogg and MacGill are up for a hiding yet Roy and Pup can spin them out  LMAO. We could have got wickets on the deck that Pup returned those figures mally and you know it.

REB
I will elaborate on my logic
The Indians are spin magicians, whatever bowler is picked to be the spinner
they will struggle against Sachin and his spin mauling gang
If the spinner will average about 50 for the series , dont pick them
Play the 4 quicks as we know some of these Indians shit themselves when the ball bounces
and get Roy and Pup to fill in a few overs.
The Australian curators are unlikely to play spinning decks this summer.

As for the spinners MACGILL is light years in front of Hogg in the test arena
Look at his record.
If he does not play against the Indians that may be a blessing in disguise.
After this series we will need Stuey and Im sure he will reap in the wickets

Yeah, but in context, I could've taken wickets on that strip.
Our spinners are just luckless on the spinners paradise.

While it seems the majority want 4 quicks who do they want to play? Noffke, Tait or Hilfy?

Do we think that Lee, Johnson, Clark and one of these will trouble the likes of Dravid, Sachin and co? I am not so sure..

I just can't believe that Bracken is a forgotten man!
If he's fit, then it'd almost have to be Tait, but if he's under a cloud, then Hilfy.
Only saying that because Noffke's injured anyways.

My mistake, i would place Bracken in that little group.

Noffke is playing today.

I'm a big fan of variation but yeah, these guys aren't as good on bouncy decks. McGill is hanging on like a dog with a bone but Noffke must be close. Where would he bat, seven or eight?

If you go by the theory 'what the opposition would like least' then the selection must be Tait.
