Taity said it was the flattest wicket he has played on in his career!!! i wonder what the test wicket will be like down there. bat first and make 700 and hope you can bowl the other team out twice in two and half days

all the people saying you want hogg because his batting its rubbish because you have gilly at 7 and 9 times out of ten when Hogg bats the aussies will be atleast 350. and if you get lower scores you want a bowler who can rip through teams!!

Just ask yourself this question on a 5TH day turning pitch do you want a chinaman or a big spinning leg spinner????

Hogg is in much better form than MacGill, better form = more wickets and Hogg has been playing international cricket more than MacGil latley.

The selectors always said they will not pick players just cause their playing well in the other form of the game.

Was reading the Herald Sun online and Hilfenhaus has replaced Tait in the 13 man squad. Tait has come out of the Moo Moo Cup game with elbow soreness.

From Chairman of Selectors Andrew Hilditch:-
"It's disappointing for Shaun to have suffered a slight aggravation to his elbow in the lead-up to the first Test," Hilditch said.

"Ben richly deserves his opportunity after a magnificent Pura Cup season last year. He also impressed all with his involvement around the Australian squad in the one-day international series in India last month."

Tait developed elbow soreness in this week's Pura Cup match against Tasmania in Hobart, Australian team physio Alex Kountouris said today.

"He had been progressing well following elbow surgery in May this year and this would appear be a short-term setback," Kountouris said.

Throws a different light on things I suppose, but alas another quicky picked that has basically done nothing this summer already. Perhaps we should just pick spinners

Stuart MacGill has been given a clear run into the first-Test team after Brad Hogg was trimmed from Australia's 13-man squad in Brisbane. Andrew Hilditch, the chairman of selectors, watched Hogg bowl in the nets before making the decision, which was helped by the cloudy and damp conditions.

MacGill, who made light of his "bowl-off" with Hogg after training on Monday, is now in the prime position to play against Sri Lanka at the Gabba on Thursday and resume his Test career after an 18-month break. He needs only two wickets to reach 200 and should line up alongside Brett Lee, Stuart Clark and Mitchell Johnson, who is eyeing a debut on his home ground
