Will have to agree with mal here SA are a spinner too heavy and a quick too light. D Harris bowled absolute pies for his solitary over.

if we must play two spinners we have to drop a batsman and play Cleary. but then it gets complicated, what happens when Boof and Taity are fit who has to go???

speaking of Tait when I left for the carpark at the last drinks interval I watched Shaun hurl a few down in the nets off his full run so he can't be too far away

There was a broken split seat in the Bradman Stand today
Must have been the one BAYMAN sat behind in the EG V GL footy final....

Cleary wouldve been sitting in the stand wondering just why hes not out there, as Mal said the lack of balance in the bowling line is like dogs balls. Hope that this trend doesnt continue for the rest of the summer. Ill be moving back to Adelaide after 5 years in the NT and NW WA in December and (I hate to say) but really want to watch the Redbacks, but not just chase leather all afternoon.

The seat BAYMAN hit with his fist when EG won in the last few seconds
Geez if he sat on it the seat would have disintigrated.

The team that should have played today

J BORGAS
D HARRIS
C BORGAS
COSGROVE
ADCOCK
DIETZ
CLEARY
BAILEY..................................or CULLEN
R HARRIS
GILLESPIE
ROFE

4 fast bowlers
1 spinner
5 batsman
1 keeper

you may as well play the allrounders who would make more runs than what ELLIOTT did most innings last 2 years

Next game
LEHMANN
TAIT
in
ROFE
R HARRIS
out

LEHMANN in makes 3 quicks 2 spinners[you sacrifice a quick for Boofs batting]

Ryan Harris is a very good OD player
But apart from one game has been below expectations in PC games

The above teams are balanced teams
Im sure most people on SAFOOTY would agree

GILLESPIE
R HARRIS
COSGROVE
CULLEN
BAILEY

Trouble after 25 overs when the shine is off the ball
There is a total lack of penatration in the first digs of PC games
This attack is ok when the pitch deteriates on 3rd + particularly 4th days

This attack is at the mercy of the toss

For those who went today, how would you rate Cullen and Bailey's performances?

Who would be more likely to place if the selectors went for only one spinner?

I know this is a big call
both are being talked up as Test players
BUT
both are struggling to make the SA team !

BAILEY is the better long term prospect
Off spinners are too dimensional
Leg spinners can eventually become match winners with experience

BAILEY for mine for the investment
BAILEY is a far superior batsman

Despite saying they are both not up to it right now
they are both very young and can become very good bowlers

SA are boxed into a corner here we have two nationally contracted spinners but we dont have the pace attack to blast out batting line ups with having two spinners also in the side. IMHO it comes down to batting ability

Bailey has improved his batting out of sight in the last year and this shows by batting middle order in club cricket and making good scores. DC on the other hand is not as talented with the stick and as much as I want a club mate to succeed at the highest level Bails has his nose infront at this stage
