Connolly playing as a bowler or even all-rounder would be the biggest joke in Australian test selection history, and there have been some almighty ones.

Bloke's never taken a first-class wicket. They are seriously taking the piss, if he plays.

Maybe not that level haha.

I just thought both played a decent role and complimented one another nicely albeit Murphys stats didnt look great.

I don't think it's harsh - just cant see how you can have Murphy in the side with Lyon except to bowl a few overs while he rests.

Yeah dont disagree and they are probably working off a split of something like below. Just harsh from the point of view why was he selected in the first place then as nothing has really changed from one test to the next.

Starc 10%
Kuhnemann 40%
Lyon 40%
Connelly 5%
Webster 5%

Murphy is the Temu version of Lyon, I'd rather see Head, Smith or Marnus having a trundle while Gaz needs rub down.

Im happy CC is playing- as Ive pumped up his tyres and it makes me look like a smart poster
But dropping Murphy I cant agree with
CC is a classy batsman
However his bowling lacks bite on Oz decks
However he might prove once again, anyone who bowls LH finger spin can take wickets on that side of the world

Murphy has the ability to take 100+ test wickets and should be playing

Not sure I'd be dropping a specialist bowler for CC.

The deck is dry and not a little bit dry, like proper raging spinner deck dry.

Maybe that's why they've opted for the extra bat? Confident they have the weapons to take 20 wickets, but concerned over how much it might spin and leave them short of runs.

Fair point, we averaged 109 per wicket in the first test vs Sri Lanka's 20.6. ;)

I've nothing against him, but I don't see how he's playing ahead McSweeney or Konstas.

Nah it's a close call umpire made a decision it's not like it's a stinker, especially when you cant say with 100% certainty that is the path the ball will go after it has hit the pad.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!
