Who is next in line?

Mitch Marsh.
Id be keen to bring a Liam Davis or a Warner to open and push Watto down to 5 ot 6

I just think it would be a great time to blood new players against the Kiwis. No disrespect to them.

Spot on, i would rather blood kids even if it meant losing the series. A bit of short term pain to bolst our future

Like Davis just don't know if he is ready just yet.

No to Warner for me. In good form but will be found out technically IMO. Definately keen to reduce Wattos workload though.

Shaun Marsh is a good opener but just dont know how many games you will get out of him

Alot of people writing off punter to early IMO Hussey had a lean patch (as all bats do). Cant replace talent like Ponting easily, and no one is beating down the door to take his spot.

With Ponting, you can tell straight away if he is seeing them well by how he plays the straight ball. If he looke to play through mid wicket, he is cooked. If he plays down through mid on he is set. You saw this innings, he drove down the ground and in the last few digs he has been LBW to the straight ball falling across looking through mid wicket.

Marsh for me cant stay on the park..... what if you drop punter/he retires and Marsh breaks down again?

Warner is better technically than Hughes and IMO has matured as a cricketer greatly in this season, through hard work and determination to prove people wrong (10/10 specialist etc).

Usman, stood up this test. Runs werent there in the first dig but second innings was an important knock. Needs more matches in the side.

Wade should get a crack in the NZ series over Haddin.

I think Cummins has just bowled Johnson out of the side.

Obviously, the only way we can really win it from here is if Ponting goes on and makes a ton and Clarke and Hussey make half decent scores. Haddin will be lucky to make double figures, and hopefully it won't come down to it, but the tail might be able to wag with Johnson, Lyon and Siddle all capable of hanging around for a bit.

They normally have half hour preview with Brendan Julien, Greg Blewett etc. before the start of play.

Play starts at 10am, 6:30pm SA time. Unsure if they have a preview tonight.

Another impressive knock by Khawaja, showed similar defiance in defence as to the first innings and could be a little more aggressive with wickets not tumbling at the other end. Didnt look comfortable picking the spinner so did well to get 65. Another 120 run partnership will get us home.

If its get to the stage that Punter is dropped it will also be the time where Watto slides down to 6 and Marsh opens. Warner appears to be the reserve batsmen in the squad after that.

Very inexperienced XI: Marsh, Hughes, Khawaja, Clarke, Hussey, Watson, Haddin/Wade, Harris, Siddle, Lyon, Cummins

They wont drop Ponting for this summer in Australia, though I expect that to be his swansong. He'll win the game for us today....c'mon Punter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ponting could have done that himself if he'd scored a run or two in the last two years.

the aussies are home n hosed

the south african attack isnt troubling the batsmen as they should be on a 4th going into 5th day pitch.

ponting to get a 100, remain in the squad for the summer and retire at the end of it
