One of my pet dislikes in cricket. A batsman has no idea, takes his eyes off the ball, and wins 4 runs for being useless.

It is disgraceful that you can get 4 runs for headering the ball over the keeper, the batsman took his eye off the ball for christ sake, great delivery yet you get penalised. What a joke.

It isn't runs if you get smacked on the pads not offering a stroke so why do you get runs for getting smacked in the head? What is the difference?

I would argue that a batsman who just turns his back on the ball and allows it to hit his helmet is NOT genuinely taking evasive action. If they're going to have that silly rule, the batsman should at least have his eye on the ball.

throwing the bat now, think the message has come out, get another quick 20 and declare last thing the Aussie openers particularly Hughes will want is to come in and bat for 1/2 hour

I agree AH and for what it's worth taking evasive action shouldn't be considered a stroke for the sake of leg byes. It makes no sense that leg byes can be scored when there is no intention whatsoever from the batsman of scoring from the delivery. Whether or not leg byes should be awarded when a player is actually attempting a stroke is a different argument but i don't know of anyone with common sense that would agree that taking evasive action should be deemed a stroke.

Brilliant captaining to get a guy caught at deep point today
Pity about the 50 runs that could have been saved and the 6 catches that 3rd man might have taken though

The C9 commentators have said it all day
The crowd have witnessed it all day
The TV viewers have seen it all day
LOCKY has pleaded for a 3rd man today
Perhaps at stumps tonight someone should let the skipper in on the secret ...
