I think he's leaving?

I read he's going to play in the ILT20 for the Gulf Giants (which starts January 19th) after BBL duty so not sure that means he'll be leaving before the BBL finals start and not play in them?

Stars & Hurricanes tonight

Only interest is whether this may be Stoinis' last game

Had a very poor series following on from the W/C, only game he did anything was against the Strikers really

No, they have both played their last games, as has Lynn (injured anyway).

Assume they have to play Bazley for Overton, that’s massive worry.

Not sure have any batters left, may have to play Manenti and push Nielsen up the order.

Either way we are screwed. The comp needs to do something about this, becomes a joke.

Overton the biggest loss as our pace bowling is expensive

Short
Short
Weatherald
Kelly
?
?
Payne
Nielsen
Thornton
Boyce
Pope

Options are two of Manenti Bazley Kann Hunt with Agar and Doggett not considered as batters

Maybe we could seek a replacement player but it would be slim pickings out there

The comp needs to? How about we find a committed squad that makes themselves available for the tournament? I bet Head and Carey soak up a fair percentage of the cap.

Don’t blame the comp.
Blame SACA and Dizzy.
They choose the squad.
I can see why you would maybe choose 1 player that can’t play finals but we have several.
Unheard of in any other sport or organisation

Don’t think this only applies to Strikers, think most teams affected at some level, Brisbane Heat the worse.

Think Cricket Australia and all the other comps around the world need to work out a schedule that doesn’t overlap.

More players these days are 20/20 specialists who like to play in all the comps to make a living.

I know players have to make a living but the top end players are just being greedy here.
Play the full season including finals otherwise don’t sign them IMO

I’m pretty sure the IPL don’t release players before seasons end.

Would be 4 gone if Khan played

His replacement Payne the only bloke staying.

I guess making finals is the pinnacle for the strikers.
Winning the title is not as important if we allow players to leave when they start.

Gets worse more you think about it, knowing beforehand you have nearly 1/3 of your squad unavailable if you make finals and thats without any injuries.

Head,Carey,Khan,Lynn,Overton,Hose

A true strategy for success...

Playing a shorter season 2023/2024 and still players become unavailable
Might as well go back to playing more games like the past
This season is finishing toooooooooooooooooooooo quick

One would think that the crowds have been decent enough to generate some cash to make it more appealing for players to want to be a part of it.

But yeah, even it up a bit, play each other just the once, have the two derbies, out of the remaining teams, whoever finished highest the season prior plays the team that finished lowest and then the other two play each other. (Shit, I found the hardest way to write that).

8 matches is enough, 4 home, 4 away, can still go top 5 or 6 if the wanna be generous. Season wrapped up in lest than 35 matches

Munro and Billings at Heat, Evans at Scorchers, Vince at Sixers, maybe others too. So can’t sledge Strikers when other teams in same boat.

The reason it will be Scorchers vs Sixers in Grand Final yet again is because they have much more depth and can cover the outs much better.
