Paine and Faulkner are ensuring Tassie win the shield. Great batting, lead nearly 400

The Kiwi commentators are very good in this regard as well (for NZ vs Eng).

From looking at the scorecard one must ask are QLD going for the draw? thought they would be going the tonk

Strange.....going at less than 2 an over.

I'd figure no guts no glory. Give it a go FFS!

The only time this year the Tassie pitch has been a road... need to take away the draw wins the shield clause. Home ground is advantage enough - if its a draw play an extra day. Shield finals are always a bore-fest!

I think it is the only solution. Both teams should be playing to win.

Have it timeless, force someone to win, finishing top you get home ground advantage AND you only need a draw. The state of Aussie batting these days they'll be lucky to last the 5 anyway I suppose...

I reckon the best way to lose a Cricket match is to try and draw it when you've been given an extra day. No, the top side has earnt that right. In the old days they didn't even have a Shield Final. Longer matches don't necessarily increase the scoring rate either. Google the timeless test and imagine what it was like trying to watch those batting marathons.

You play everyone away and at home. If you finish top you earn that right.

Yeah 5 days compared to the normal 4 helps, it's a massive advantage though, either way Tasmania have dominated this game bar a few overs of brilliance from Harris so they should win anyway.

Just a thought - no toss but the visiting side gets to choose what to do first.
Pros, cons? As a scenario, obviously Tassie could bat slowly batting second as well, but Qld would have at least had the opportunity to score 400 in good time and attack with the ball. If they only scored 160 then they'd lown it.
Home side wouldn't produce too green a pitch as they'd still only need to draw, hence would be unlikely to be put in and rolled for 100 due to the conditions.
