I will never understand why guys shoulder arms especially early on

so they dont edge it, the less balls you play at the less chance of being dismissed, as long as you know where your stumps are

I think attacking is the only way today.
If this side was set 307 to win in a ODI they would probably achieve it 7 or 8 times out of 10.
I know circumstances are differant but if we try to bat for time we will be rolled for 150. The ground is lightning fast and the field is up, time to cash in

To make runs you need to use your bat.

He is always going to be dismissed in that manner, plays away from body. Really poor technique.

2/64 Tea
Ponting and Khawaja have put on 45.
Both have played some great shots to short balls.
Morkel is giving Khawaja plenty of problems from around the wicket.
Few drops of rain and light dimming, not sure how much play we will get for rest of day.
Be nice to not lose a wicket for rest of the day and chase 180 ish tomorrow

Unfortunately lost Khawaja on second to last ball of day.
If we manage to get through the first hour unscathed tomorrow we could be a real shot.
Ponting and Khawaja were brilliant, some of Pontings shots were vintage. Hope he goes on with it and can win us the game.

I'd like to see him score an unbeaten knock and win us the game, if only to shut up the anti-Ponting brigade. Imagine selectors showing Bradman the door...

Differant era now. Ponting hasnt scored a ton in nearly 2 years and is averaging 18 from last 5 tests. No place for sentiment anymore. Win is the match tonight and exit on a high

The lack of succession planning means we still require a player of Ponting's calibre, even if he is down on form.

Kat was chopped with the best average for an Aussie over the last 2 seasons.
We need to plan for future and i dont think there is room for Ponting and Hussey, one will have to be moved on.
We saw glimpses of our future with Cummins and Khawaja last night and i still think we need to inject a couple more youth into the mix. Its all about the next ashes series, we need to build now. Would love to see guys like Mitch Marsh or Liam Davis get a run. Johnson needs to go for Pattinson aswell.

A fair well match in Australia against NZ should be the end for Ponting.

Changes

Marsh back in

Ponting > Khawaj
Haddin > Wade/Paine
Johnson > Pattinson

Welcome to the new era.

Marsh for Ponting is probably the change, but what if Marsh continues to falter with injury?

Who is next in line?

Yep 2nd test.

I just think it would be a great time to blood new players against the Kiwis. No disrespect to them.
