Correct
We dont want to face Swann on the last day on this pitch.
Hopefully we can set them 350-400 chase on the last day

Clarke wont enforce the follow on. We'll bat england out of the game hopefully then see how they go batting on a worn wicket.
Lyon just has no luck..how many times has he created a chance only for the end result not be a wicket. He must take wickets for us to win.

He never has any luck. Is it because he isn't good enough? Balls too many loose balls for an offie also.

I don't think we'll bat England out of the game. I think we need to give ourselves enough overs to bowl them out twice. We must be batting at some point in the 1st session. Say we have a lead of 150 at lunch, I would say the aim would be to declare half hour after tea with a lead of 300. That's about 110 overs, so get two new balls at them. If rain is forecast, it gives some leeway.

Having Wade as keeper for his first 10 Tests hasn't helped.

Agreed.
If he's the best spinner in Aust then there must be some shockers around.
Get the lad from Para Hills he takes a truck load of wickets every year.

Hes a spud.

Who?

26 overs in both the first two sessions, so 12 overs short over a 6 hour day and still 5-6 short with the extra half hour. Not as if there were heaps of wickets falling or balls being fetched from oustide the ground. Slowed the Aussies batting down and then the Poms got the advantage of not having to face the last two overs of the day even though the Aussies had bowled 30 in roughly 2 hours.
When it is so blatant that is was one team's fault yesterday, the umpires should give the opposition the option of playing out the overs if they wish. Plus the idea that Ian Chappell has proposed for years and suspend the captain if a team is a serial offender.

Already happens, not sure if anyone has missed Test matches yet, but Sri Lanka captain Angelo Matthews was suspended (by Boonie!) for slow rates in a recent ODI series.

Yeah, I knew it had happened in one-dayers, but would cause a huge stir if it happened in tests. THought maybe a Paki's player had been suspended as well?
Mind you, the Aussies weren't great yesterday, but far beter than the Poms on day two.

I didn't realise this. Cook should be suspended for the 4th Test. That is blatant cheating given all they need is a draw to retain The Ashes.

I think Aust need to get the wicket more so quickly than cheaply as they'll need time to bat to get a total big enough that it can't be run down yet leave them selves enough time to try and bowl England out again.

Nothing but a draw for mine.

Clarke will risk losing to try and win. And with the weather, probably won't need as many as one might think anyway. A draw is as good as a win for England.

Warner needs to open the bat and get on with it.

Treat the middle session as a One Dayer and have a crack and knocking England over you reckon?

Trouble is it looks a good deck to bat on so rolling England in a day might be an issue....

Only chance of getting enough runs on the board and maximising overs needed to bowl them out.

Ran off the field once the last wicket fell. Either opening in place of Rogers or he needed to take a dump!

We're trying to win the match ... makes sense to keep Watto as far away from the action as possible.

Warner just needs to treat this like aT20 innings.
